I am DONE with spending money

And bonus points because then my friends also host dinner parties and I attend those for free/don't have to cook (I don't care about the money as much, I'm just saying that people reciprocate). When I host, my kids can be asleep upstairs or down watching movies in the basement. It's just more relaxing.

Get a big 20oz Contigo coffee mug and brew your own coffee at home. Stays hot forever.
Need to find those friends. We are successful in inviting people to our house, but return invites are slim, generally 3-1.

Only to find out I didn't have a plantar's wart and just a small callous.

Everyone is nickel and diming everything. Everything. There is no escape.

The nickel and diming is key. It is everywhere. I am so sick of seeing convenience fees, technology fees, admin fees, welcome fees, experience fees and myriad other bs reasons to tack on 2% here and 1% there. Plus hotels not making up rooms unless asked, extra for this and that. F it. I’ll stay home and finally read the entire the Years of Lyndon Johnson series.

Even our school PTA has convenience fees when we buy tickets to their events on the website. There is not even a cash option.

I mean how can you forget the $2.17 gas a gallon and my investments doubling in 4 years. I can't forget that and won't.

I went from struggling to survive to having almost $1M in assets on my meager salary. When he announced not to sell your stocks, because he of course didn’t have control of his portfolio at the time so he had to signal to his portfolio management somehow so he made a broad public announcement (haha), I moved what little cash I had into stocks and it all did really well. Not mad at him

My net worth doubled in 4 years with Trump president. I can't be mad. Now I'm watching the same investments dwindle. Now I'm mad.

Covid, which Trump and his minions totally mishandled, ruined our finances. And I’m still mad. That man should have never been within 500 miles of the WH and God-willing never again. What a disaster.

It's almost a shame that Trump didn't win the last election. He wouldn't have been able to do a thing about the rising cost of living. It was a worldwide problem.

He wouldn't be on the pedestal that many people have put him on.

That's funny. I believe you really think that too.

Yes, I do

Exactly what are you talking about?

In that case, invite people over with their kids at 1 or 2 PM. Provide just snacks. It gets expensive if you're the only one hosting dinner & drinks all the time.

This. It's so irritating. Doctors offices are the worst. They're constantly claiming bogus fees to try to nickel and dime patients.

Same this is the area we have completely cut back. After paying $29 for my 11 year olds poke bowl, I was done. (It was her bday, so I let her get whatever she wanted.).

The next week I researched sushi grade tuna near me, steamed rice, diced mango, cucumber, and avocado and added edamame. I made 3 poke bowls for the same cost as that one bowl.

Trader Joe’s frozen aisle is now our eating out location.

I did call the insurance company to complain because in my book, seeing the podiatrist to look at a possible plantar's wart is an office visit and how did they justify it being broken into separate bills for office visit versus "treatment." They effectively told me tough luck, my problem, not theirs. They're not interested in saving money, clearly.

I second not spending money on eating out or going to restaurants. The food quality is crap these days, everything tastes like its microwaved food. The service is just crap, no staff at all. Uber charges crazy service fees. I have plenty of money and not cheap but its just not worth the $$ anymore.

No. Free. Lunch.

It was a free lunch.

Yes, and now we're paying for it. Did you see what they did to the money supply during Covid? Did we think that was just going to work without any consequences?

I’m there too. Mostly, I just don’t want any more stuff. I want to get rid of the things I have and live simply. I don’t mind spending on consumables though.

In my experience, Podiatrists seem more prone to questionable billing than most medical professionals. Anesthesiologists are in a league of their own.

I’m not even going to begin to resume travel until the kids are outbid the house and I’m not stuck traveling when everyone else is. And don’t get me started on restaurants. Quality is in the shitter and prices are sky high.

I did safaris (3 different parks) in Kenya this August and it was so over run with obnoxious environmentally disrespectful Chinese tourists it makes for a miserable experience. Even the Kenyans were disgusted.

OMFG. You are a racist and what do you mean with your last sentence?? Even the Kenyans were disgusted. Are you implying that they don’t get disgusted as easily as other nationalities/races?
