I was shocked. Local schools are overflowing with undocumented students, but we discard European academics making breakthroughs in cancer research?

Why are you shocked? The Biden admin (and most democrats) loves illegal aliens that sneak in from Mexico (and will even help them by removing the slightest impediment to freely crossing, like fences, barbed wire, etc.), and then later grant them DACA, etc. But if you're not sneaking in en masse - then no DACA for you!

For anyone else who is interested, that's not what DACA is. I'm sure this poster doesn't want to hear it but others might.

Italian citizens should have freedom of movement between the us and Italy

However, how did their visa status expire? The # of Italian slots currently doesn’t fill up nearly as fast as India China and Mexico

I have no idea about the details. One had the possibility of getting an extraordinary “genius” type visa, but their spouse’s research group couldn’t pull off the same, so they both left for prestigious jobs in the EU and took their high-achieving kids with them.

It makes no common sense. None.

Wonder how many would take us up on it? No free health care, little vacation, no disability, poison food, free education, and don't forget mass shootings. yay us

Estimates indicate there are 50,000 undocumented Irish immigrants living here already.

And they deport them too - when they get around to it.

Nothing wrong with Germany and if they don’t like it they can go to another EU country.

Germany isn’t sending its best. These are crazy, radical Christian’s.

They abused the US asylum system. At the time that they claimed ‘asylum’, the UK was part of the EU AND it allows homeschooling. They could have moved there. Could have also moved to Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Portugal….all are EU countries that allow homeschooling.

Interesting that you chose back Africans for your contrasting scenario when we have a real life illegal immigration crisis you could have used.

I chose to contrast with black Africans because I am one myself and I work with refugees/asylum seekers from African countries.

You are more like these "people" you are criticizing than you think you are.

This kind of thing is nothing new and isn't about "Biden" - A friend of mine who fled Bulgaria with his family in the late 1980s was threatened with deportation. And his child who was a toddler when they came to the US was deported back to Bulgaria, despite not even knowing the language. This happened under TRUMP.

G7 citizens should have freedom of movement between EU and the USA ONLY if they have advanced education or training (university or trade school) AND can pass a language exam showing C1/native-level fluency in their country’s language. This would provide quality input into our economy and eliminate receiving their multitude of poor uneducated immigrants -we have plenty of those already.

But even then they are constrained by the terms of their visa. Overstay that visa as this German family did, and they are subject to deportation.

Those "poor, uneducated immigrants" are essential to our economy and, no, we don't have "plenty already." There are currently severe shortages in the restaurant/hospitality industry as well as in construction, jobs that often attract recent migrants. And who do you think picks our crops, works our slaughterhouses, processes crabs and other seafood, and does pretty much all the undesirable jobs in our economy? That being said, these types of workers should enter the country in an orderly fashion, ideally on work visas that require them to work in specific understaffed industries.

Thank you

There is no free healthcare. You pay a certain percentage of your income for healthcare. If you make a lot, you can opt into “private” insurance which covers more and gets you better treatment.
The healthcare premiums are much lower than in the US though.
I’m German, immigrated to the US, and often get check ups in Germany that I pay for out of pocket bc it’s cheaper and better (some, not all).

I’m not too worried about Japanese who can’t speak c1 English coming over

In fact I’d bring over 100 million Japanese tomorrow if I could

The language thing is stupid. People learn

C1/ native level in their country’s language, not ours!
So, for example, if you are coming from Germany you need fluent C1 German.

We actually agree.
