Are Tall Boots Back Yet?

People are so weird about their dated fashion on this forum. Absolutely nobody is prying your DSW riding boots or waterfall cardigans or infinity scarves or skinny jeans out of your hands. Rock on forever in your outdated clothes, none of us care.

Tall boots, especially in cherry red, are all over my social media feeds at the moment. Apparently cherry red was the “it” color at New York Fashion Week.

Yes. The silhouette seems to be sleek, heeled, pointy-toed, and the height just under knee or over it---always shown with skirts and dresses.

I have to buy a new pair. My last pair, very well-loved, fell apart, and I didn't get new ones for last year. Just wore booties (which I hate). But the tall boots look so good with so many of my dresses.

Tall boots are never out. They are a cold weather fashion staple. Wearing them over skinny jeans or leggings with a tunic sweater, infinity scarf, and big floppy hat is a dated look, but the problem is not the boots.

Knee high boots have been back on the runway since summer 2022.

If you're ever wondering if X is in or out, just Google what's on the runways. Fashion buyers look at the runways for buy/sell/hold cues. If something is on the runways now, within a couple seasons you'll start seeing it on the streets. I don't mean *exactly* what's on the runways, but the general look and feel at a more mass market scale.

We are now 5 seasons past when knee high boots were dominant on the runways, which means they are now mainstream enough that only really fashion-oblivious people will challenge you.

Ok this may be the most helpful thing I’ve ever read on dcum.

I truly love your assumption that a tall boot can only be a) from some shit shoe store b) paired with some other trends you seem unfashionable c) outdated when every retailer across the spectrum still sells tall boots in every price point.

Get a life.

Tall boots were all over the Fall edition of vogue- with sweater dresses and skirts.

No, I fully get that tall boots are trendy. I own them. I’ll buy more this fall. It’s your specific “pry them out of my hands” comment that tells me you’re wearing dated shit you refuse to believe is dated because you won’t give it up.

DP.
The “pry them out of my hands” poster doesn’t CARE if things are dated. This has nothing to do with refusing to believe something is out of fashion. This is about not CARING.

I don’t care in the slightest if what I’m wearing is dated. I know it and I happily wear it anyway. My self confidence doesn’t come from my clothes.

You’re in denial. You do have a sense of style and you do care, but instead of looking fashionable you’re going for the “I don’t care” look that many DC women adopt. You think you’re too cool but you’re just confirming to the norm.

How little you know.

I don’t adopt any look. If it feels good, I wear it.

Not everybody cares. Why do you need us to? Does it make you feel better somehow? Why?

NP.

Yes. Gives them a sense of control and power if you are predictable. They also take things literally so a lot gets lost on them and they feel frustrated.

For example, re: [prying things out of hands], PP, do you really think people literally don’t buy new boots?
