Well stated. And, bonus points for the citations. But, your well reasoned and well expressed post will not stop people here from calling you "forced birther" or even imply you are racist. It has already happened. It is who they are. I agree with everything you said. I have two kids. One lives in FL and loves it. And, we love visiting the family when we can. Isn't it crazy that most any discussion on this board somehow always turns into a discussion about abortion? It is like an obsession with people here. And, the ironic thing is the most - if not all of them - live in states or in DC where there are no limits on abortion. |
The entire concept of "forced birth" paints women as total bystanders in their own pregnancy. In 99% of cases, they are pregnant by choice. They chose to have unprotected sex. Leaving out rape, medical issues, etc, all we have left is people who made bad choices. Where have we gotten, lately, by treating everyone as a hapless, moronic victim, whose victimhood entitles them to do anything to other people, up to and including killing them, because capitalism is supposedly evil? Does this seem like a sustainable culture to you? |
It's their only selling point. "We might have declining educational achievement, a hostile environment for business, increasing crime, and a spiraling homeless population of people who can't access addiction treatment, but you can abort at any time you please, because why would you bring someone into this God-forsaken state?" |
Statistically speaking all you forced birthers had just as many abortions as pro choice women. I’d like to have seen your lives with your - let me get this straight, your you’re a hapless moronic victim - pregnancy and child. We know you’re hypocrites. |
And then you complain about "open borders" when it is clear we need more people ![]() |
Also if she gets raped and becomes pregnant you are totally ok with her having no access to abortion and her education and career plans derailing because you’ll become a grandparent. So trade off. |
Abortion is bad enough, but Florida is also killing majors in doesn't like and altering courses to erase the sins of history.
Because, hey, slavery teaches valuable job skills! Ben Sasse, the DeSantis pick for UF president, hides from the students because he is so unpopular on camps. He is on the record to slash majors and raise in-state tuition. The NYTimes did a great piece on his slithery ways. |
Sorry, not falling for the gaslighting here. The obsession came from the right, who weaponized abortion and right to life since the early 1980's to the point that billionaires fund right wing judges and the supreme court to overturn a decent compromise. Obsession indeed. |
The difference between conservatives and liberals is that liberals care about other people. So there are states that are greatly impinging on women and girls' rights to bodily autonomy, and that means we liberals in other states actually care about what happens to those girls and women. Unlike conservatives whose thinking is more along the lines of "I've got mine, too bad for you." Prove me wrong! |
There are very very few states that allow this, and only if there is a medical reason for it. |
Please cite your source on the percentages showing the reason for abortions. |
" Florida was “the state where learning goes to die.” |
Florida is the state where dumb and dumber get accepted. |
Can you follow up in some years when climate change is going to be making the south NOT a great place to live? |
I thought crime rates went down with abortion being legalized. And do tell-how die conservative states address poverty and addiction? |
