Extreme fear of dogs

I think it is pretty reasonable for a small child to be scared of dogs. A lot of dogs are much bigger than a small child and people don't really train their dogs anymore. Almost every kid has been barked at, jumped on by a dog, etc

My kid is scared of dogs, but it’s because 90% of the dogs we come across are poorly trained. We were on a walk on Sunday and a neighbor had his unleashed dog in the driveway . As we walked by he crouched and began growling and then ran up to my kid aggressively . The guy was going “hey hey what’s wrong with you!” But definitely didn’t catch him before he was at my kid. People bring their reactive, poorly trained dogs out, unleashed, uncontrolled, and are SHOCKED when that animal doesn’t do well and scares people or gets itself into a scrape with another dog. I don’t even think your kid is being unreasonable if this is the experience they’ve had with the dogs in your neighborhood. I am not afraid but have truly come to dislike dogs based on their owners not raising and training them properly .
