True. It’s probably the best thing on their menu. But their drip coffee sucks, so the soufflés are not something I’ll go out of my way for. |
They use garbage oil in most of their items — not butter or olive oil — which is super scummy at their prices and when they frame themselves as healthy. It’s trash food. |
| There is a Panera exactly midway between our house and ILs (6 hr drive total) and I always genuinely look forward to stopping there. Granted, my ILs are terrible cooks and there are like 2 restaurants in their town, so my standards are low on the way home. But we also sometimes stop there on the way there! I like their soup and a couple of their salads are very tasty. It's also really easy to eat there with a toddler/preschooler which I really appreciate |
You gave the correct, definitive answer in the first response, but everyone else had to keep jawing for 4 pages! |
A little insight for you - anyone who willingly eats a Cracker Barrel breakfast is not a food snot. You can let go of that one. |
The other top threads on this subforum are about what to order at outback, which cream cheese dip is the best and ground beef. Dcum tastes are solidly pedestrian middle America. |
I love me some Cracker Barrel too!! And not just the breakfast. They know how to do county fried steak and green beans right! Don’t let anyone take the sunshine out of your day, dear poster! |
I feel bad for you. That stuff is nasty. |
| The green goddess salad is amazing . |
Wait til we talk about Golden Corral … |
|
It’s called St. Louis Bread Company.
Friggin’ turncoats. |
As a fellow St. Louisan, you know that Bread Co. ain’t what it used to be. And how are these people turncoats if they don’t grow up with it? |

I feel like Panera has declined. I remember going out of my way to one when they first started opening in Maryland.
My mom really likes it so we lunch there sometimes. I get the green goddess salad, the apple fuji salad, the broccoli cheddar soup, the mediterranean bowl and the breakfast souffles. I don't like the coffee. Most of the drinks are too sweet for me. I don't like the bagels either. |
| It's ok for fast casual food. I like the Thai chicken salad. Would I go out of my way for it? No. Is is reasonably good if I happen to be near a Panera and need to eat? Yes. |
+1. I used to think it was fine. Went to one last year because it was right next to my parent's rehab center and it was unbelievably bad. Salad was limp and gray-ish, chicken was slimy, everything tasted of pure salt. DH likes salt and he thought it was terrible too. No more Panera for us. |
