Do I have bad taste in food or is Panera okay?

It's been years since I ate at Panera but I really liked their sandwich-salad combination meals back in the day. That said, the only Panera that I haven't liked is the Tysons location. It looks dirty, dingy, service is not good. That was years ago so maybe they've improved, who knows.

I haven’t liked their sandwiches but go regularly for the salads and lemonade.

I have not eaten at a Panera since the mid 90’s. What am i missing? It seems like a downscale prêt à manger

I like it! But I've had to stop going there full stop- the salt content is unbelievable. I just thought it was salty like most restaurant food, but I looked up the nutritional specs, and almost fell over.

I have a soft spot for Panera but everything tastes to me like they add extra sugar to it. Like things taste initially better than expected, and then you realize it’s just sugar.

Subway or Wawa sandwiches are meh, but it does usually taste like I would expect. Panera tastes engineered to me.

I too like the apple salad!

The breakfast egg soufflés are delicious.

I love salt. Their broccoli cheddar soup is a guilty pleasure.

I was just going to say this. The breakfast souffles are worth the effort in the morning (they only have so many and when they're out, they're out). They're excellent.

I like Panera. There is a reason it expanded like it has from humble roots in St. Louis.

Please write a review similar to that amazing 2012 Olive Garden review:

I make decent money and still enjoy their salad and breadsticks too!

I’m pretty picky about food and like several of their offerings. I like the frontega chicken (although it is salty and greasy, it is good), and the Napa chicken salad is a good relatively low calorie option. I don’t usually like chicken sandwiches so it’s unusual I like two of theirs. The beef stuff is also over cooked though and I’m too picky about my greens to eat their salads. And I find their soups too salty but that’s true for almost everyone’s soups. (I like the soups at Pret).

Don’t let anybody make you feel bad about your taste! For one thing, life is too short. For another thing, it’s not like having “sophisticated” tastes is some big accomplishment. It’s not an appreciation you develop through study like art or music or opera. It just means you ate a bunch of stuff. So what? Like what you like!

I like it every once in awhile

French onion soup
All the flatbread pizzas
4 sandwiches
Sourdough bread & a few other breads
Blueberry, chocolate chip, & sesame bagels
A bunch of drinks and desserts

One of my problems with Panera... they think the constant rotation will fix everything.

I'm the snottiest of food snots, but I will eat the mess out of cracker barrel breakfast. And Panera can be just fine. Better than most options.

That’s smart. Their menu is wayyyyy too big and their staff is clearly really overworked dealing with it all. It’s actually annoying to even order on the app because there are toooo many options.
