Springhill Suites is right on the beach and while it is not a fancy resort, it is a good hotel with some good beach amenities.

OP here and coming back to this for the final time. I just did my trip and stayed at the Springhill Suites, and it was perfection. Had a gulf front room with balcony that was beautiful. And the beach was amazing. The water was a little choppy the first day but still clear and beautiful. The second day, the water was calm like a pool and so stunning. I would say it was as nice as beaches in the Caribbean but relatively empty and easier to get to.

Both days, I went down to the beach around 7:30am, got a rental chair and umbrella and stayed there until they packed up the rentals at 5pm other than grabbing lunch or refiling my water bottle. I spent the day swimming, reading, and watching the beautiful sting rays swim by. I stopped at the grocery store and bought some margarita mix and had my own drinks on the beach or got a drink from the bar. The hotel gives you a $25 food/bev credit each day, which was perfect for lunch and a drink. Around 5pm, I'd go back to the room, shower, hang out on balcony, and then I went back down to the beach for sunset. After that, I'd get takeout dinner and watch junk TV all night.

It was perfect and highly recommend for any burned out moms (or dads).

Omg, this sounds like a dream solo getaway. Really grateful for the follow-up report, and all the other suggestions in this thread, seeing this all now for the first time and realizing how much I would enjoy a vacation like this.

Just two downsides to note: 1) The food options beyond the hotel restaurant were limited, especially takeout/Uber Eats options. I'm not picky and don't mind just getting a sandwich for dinner, but you'd have to drive to find other good restaurants. 2) A lot of Trumpers....lots of people who are nice to your face and you think, "Oh, these people are so friendly" but then they make some comment and you just know you're dealing with a full fledge Trumper.

Just stop.

WTF is your problem?

There are spas, restaurants, and water views.

St Michaels is really pretty in the fall. The Miles River is beautiful.

St Michael’s Harbor Inn has rooms with big decks right on the harbor

Are you saying that resorts in OC have the same views/nice beach as resorts in FL or the Caribbean?

Yes. (Currently live in Florida but lived for 5 years in Ocean City Md.)
