Why do people post in this hostile tone? Why not just say "Ocean City MD"? |
Just stop. |

Sandpearl Resort in Clearwater Beach is perfect for this. Very walkable area, beautiful beach, free hotel shuttle and free trolley anywhere on the island. Delicious food onsite and nearby. Nightly turndown service with chocolates. Ahhh. They take very good care of you.
Super easy relaxing vacation, not far from DC, and no car needed. Only 25 minute Uber ride from the Tampa airport. |
Holiday Inn 39th street in tower building is nice oceanfront balcony and hotel has indoor lazy river pool. |
WTF is your problem? There are spas, restaurants, and water views. https://innatperrycabin.com/ |
| I would cosign Miami Beach along collins ave. Sitting on the balcony at the Loews literally drops my blood pressure by 20 points. |
St Michaels is really pretty in the fall. The Miles River is beautiful. |

Hyatt Regency Cambridge--I'd call and ask for rooms with best view of the Choptank.
Seafood is decent and there are local restaurants that are good in Oxford and St Michaels. I've had a good massage there. |
The OP said she wanted to look at the water. The ocean is the ocean. OC is close |
| I just love Navarre Beach, Florida. White sand and clear water. American Airlines has a direct flight from DCA to VPS—the airport about 20 minutes away. It’s like a 2 1/2 hour flight! Springhill Suites is right on the beach and while it is not a fancy resort, it is a good hotel with some good beach amenities. |
OP here. Thank you all for these great suggestions. This ended up being what I booked b/c it looks perfect and I could use points for the hotel and miles for the direct flight. |
Great! This makes me so happy! IRL no one ever listens to my advice. I’m going to tell my kids about this! |
+1 Another pp suggested Loews in Miami/South Beach. It’s a nice hotel, but the beach is very crowded, the pool is ridiculously crowded, and the food is so overpriced it’s laughable. Plus you need to schlep to the airport to get there. You can absolutely find a nice oceanfront hotel in Ocean City that will be more relaxing. Hilton took over the Dunes Manor and just renovated it, fwiw. |
OP here and coming back to this for the final time. I just did my trip and stayed at the Springhill Suites, and it was perfection. Had a gulf front room with balcony that was beautiful. And the beach was amazing. The water was a little choppy the first day but still clear and beautiful. The second day, the water was calm like a pool and so stunning. I would say it was as nice as beaches in the Caribbean but relatively empty and easier to get to. Both days, I went down to the beach around 7:30am, got a rental chair and umbrella and stayed there until they packed up the rentals at 5pm other than grabbing lunch or refiling my water bottle. I spent the day swimming, reading, and watching the beautiful sting rays swim by. I stopped at the grocery store and bought some margarita mix and had my own drinks on the beach or got a drink from the bar. The hotel gives you a $25 food/bev credit each day, which was perfect for lunch and a drink. Around 5pm, I'd go back to the room, shower, hang out on balcony, and then I went back down to the beach for sunset. After that, I'd get takeout dinner and watch junk TV all night. It was perfect and highly recommend for any burned out moms (or dads). |
Omg, this sounds like a dream solo getaway. Really grateful for the follow-up report, and all the other suggestions in this thread, seeing this all now for the first time and realizing how much I would enjoy a vacation like this. |
