Any recommendations for hotels either in the DC area (or DE beaches) or anyplace within about a 3-4 hour flight with amazing beachfront/waterfront views from the balconies? This would be in September or October.
I'm a mom looking to do a solo trip for up to 3 nights, where I basically just want to sit on a balcony overlooking the water, sip coffee or wine, and read a book, listen to podcasts, get yummy takeout, etc. Most critical part is overlooking water--it's my happy place. Last time, I went on a cruise and just sat in the adult area, on the balcony, and on the beach for 3 days, looking at water and relaxing. I don't really want to do a cruise again so looking for hotel recs. Places I've thought about so far Residence Inn Bethany Beach b/c it would be local; Destin/30A/Rosemary Beach; Key West; Grand Cayman, etc. We are already scheduled to go on a family trip to Aruba in November, but there won't be much relaxing there b/c DH will be at work meetings while I'm taking with our four kids. |
| Miami - look at W Hotel on Collins Ave |
| I like the stretch south of Clearwater. Fly to Tampa (2ish hours I believe) and rent a car or Uber to Indian Rocks, Madeira, Redington Beach area. I have only stayed in Airbnbs but you can look at Booking.com or some aggregate and filter for waterfront. |
+1 for this part of Florida. There are lots of condo buildings (VRs) and hotels right on the beach. |
| We're trying the Hyatt Place on the beach in Virginia Beach nxt week. |
| Sanderling Resort in Duck, but get a suite. |

| These are all great suggestions so far. I'm going to look at them. Any ideas outside of the US in the Caribbean? |
| What's the matter with the views from Ocean City MD? There's plenty of high rise hotels and the ocean is the same ocean, isn't it? |
