Are you saying that resorts in OC have the same views/nice beach as resorts in FL or the Caribbean? |
| Sarasota, FL has tons of ocean front properties and easy to get to from DC in early fall |
And you hear it how often? A couple times a day for less than a minute? VB gets a lot of hate on DCUM, and I’m the first to admit that finding really good non-chain restaurant food is a challenge, but it’s accessible, affordable, and has a plethora of hotels directly on the boardwalk, which is directly on the beach, with no roads to cross and no dunes to climb. |
Holbox Mexico has places like that. But its a bit of a hassle to get to. |
Ah, I go there every year. A lot longer trip than OP is looking for though. |
| You’re a genius OP. I want to do this too! |
|
This is my happy place. Hilton head.
Nice hotel next door with nice but small spa. All kinds of food in area to take out. https://t.vrbo.io/brEDcC3fiCb |
| Meant to mean a wrap around balcony. |

The Sanctuary at Kiawah (short flight)
Pick a luxury hotel in Florida (slightly longer flight) Pick a luxury resort in the Caribbean (potentially multiple flights) Personally, I’d probably just drive to Bethany if the goal is being able to walk to coffee/food. The third floor of the overpriced boardwalk hotel would be perfect. But an OC hotel will have a better view of a nicer beach (Bethany beach is narrow). |
| For an easy flight, the singer island Marriott. They also have an adult pool. |
| Cape May? It would be quiet and there are hotels. |
I stayed here many years ago and really liked it. I don’t remember it being an open view of the ocean though like you’d get at Bethany/OC. There was a pool and trees in the way. What about the Hilton ocean front ocean city? |
| Florida. Opal Grand in Delray. Lots of options in Fort Lauderdale or Miami. All close to airports. |
| So many great ideas here. Thank you! I was a bit worried some trolls would roll in saying moms shouldn't take vacations alone or something like that. |
