It’s supply and demand. |
And the benefits are probably only health insurance and 401k. |
Seriously. I used to work in a clinic that treated UPS workers (it specialized in workplace injuries). These folks were constantly coming in with back injuries (from lifting heavy boxes), shoulder injuries, foot injuries (from pallets falling on their feet), etc…. It is not easy work! |
+1 They love the infighting ![]() |
Guess you should take a salary cut for the good of society then! What’s that, you “deserve” your high pay, so you’re exempt? Funny how that works. |
Good for them. Hope other companies have a hard time finding good employees and are forced to pay them more to compete. Unlikely, but that would be nice. |
I am always suspicious of total compensation measures because they often monetize stuff like vacation and the employer share of health insurance costs that people general take for granted when evaluating the salary at a job. |
These guys and gals work hard and earn their money. |
Funny how no one in this thread complains when a CEO gets 10 million ++++ compensation packages and golden parachutes for sinking their companies… or how about the hedge funds that take over regular stores like toy r us and destroy those companies and take away the livelihoods of thousands of people.
Hmm… |
And pension |
UPS drivers are taking home $90-100k in salary alone. That's more than the median income of masters degree holders. College is becoming increasingly overrated and a terrible ROI. Have fun making $58k per year with your worthless college degree that put you $130k in debt. Meanwhile you could have just driven a stupid truck for UPS making almost $100k per year and needed no education or advanced training. |
Labor costs always get passed on to consumers. You're just an idiot to think otherwise. Wait until there's a recession or economic slowdown. They will be forced to increase prices are margins become compressed due to rising labor costs. Labor is always the most expensive cost. Price increase will come. |
So who should get a good wage then? No one? |
Skilled workers, workers with education, entrepreneurs, business owners. Just being a slab of meat to do hardwork shouldn't mean a high salary. Picking up trash is hard work. Roofing is hard work. Junk hauling is hard work. Landscaping is hard work. You gonna pay them $170k too? Hard work does not automatically mean valuable work. |
Maybe people will stop buying a single t shirt to be shipped across the country then: so wasteful |
