Putting an arena down because their logistics are terrible and life threatening is pretty different than putting "people" down.

Taylor Swift's team made an appropriate business decision so that she could avoid putting her fans in the position Beyonce's fans were put in last night.

Then, how about not pitting two women’s entertainment brands directly against each other when putting the arena down. Start there, with the putting down of the arena rather than upholding a different (white) woman as an example of what to do. It would help ALL women, just like Tay tay would want.

Amen. Say it again for the hearing impaired people in the back. I doubt TS’s people said let’s not go to fedex field because people might get rained on. TS and crew are no saviors. No white savior crap here. As a matter of fact Taylor did a concert in the pouring rain somewhere. I saw video of her slipping and falling down during a rainy show.

Merriweather had a major issue a few years ago during a storm. Outdoor concerts in DC are a no go.

There’s room under cover for people at FedEx and other football stadiums. Merriweather is a totally different thing.

Not enough room for a sold out concert numner of people. The show was supposed to start at 8. We were not allowed in until 9:30.

Wasn’t the space issue compounded because the stadium officials wouldn’t open up the entire concourse? I thought I read only part of it was open which made things even more dangerous.

There was truly zero excuse to not use the PA system to tell people - multiple times - what was going on. And saying “we’re sheltering in place until the storm passes, we will keep updating you.” would have been better than saying nothing.

Wrong. I was there last night and there were far too many human beings in the entryway space) where the concessions are. There were thousands upon thousands of us jammed in there with no air circulating, heat and humidity, dehydration. They would not allow us into the stadium until after 9:30 pm when at least half the stadium was there—in that tight space. Fed ex field holds 67,000 people at least. It was far past capacity in the hall area. People were fainting and panicking and passing out. Read my
Yelp review today for more details.

There was no order, no directions. Before they let us in at all “security” stopped admitting people and had the nerve to suggest we return to our cars. Not.

The worst concert venue ever. I will never return. The concert didn’t start til 10 cause it was pouring rain. There were no announcements made. We just sat in the outing rain waiting.

I think Beyonce is the one who let concert goers down. Think about it, a football stadium is not the place for a concert. But it is convenient when you want to make as much money as possible by packing as many people as you can into one place who think they are participating in a special experience. You can't even see the artist from the far majority of the seats. She could have held a number of, not one, concert dates in a more approriate venue, but no, she wanted to do her one date in DC, generate as much income as possible, then peace out.

This is on her and her people. They wanted the big bucks but didn’t care about safety.

We were there too, what a clusterf***

After spending an hour to go less than half a mile as they manually checked in each car for parking (there were TONS of spaces available), and we missed more than half of the first game, I vowed that I will NEVER attend an event at that field again

PP here - the parking for that event was insane - stopping 6 lanes of traffic to check everyone's passes?? We were directed to to a different lot than we'd paid for, which I questioned repeatedly. And when we got there, we were sent away. I asked the attendant why we were told to go to the wrong lot and he responded, I don't know, they stupid. We laughed about that for awhile.

But what really freaked me out was the crowd control on the main level. We had club level tickets but went hunting for merch during the break between the matches. The main level was scary crowded. We dove in for a few minutes and quickly turned around to head back upstairs. It was not hard to imagine a stampede or crushing incident. I'll never go back to FedEx, that's for sure.

But it was also evident how FedEx is prone to crowd challenges. We had tickets on the club level but wandered down to the

Exactly. The person next to me was traumatized. I was traumatized. I thought a few times about calling it and going home and I didn’t given what I paid for a ticket. They went to a different entrance and then couldn’t get in. True potential for the place to become a death trap. Fortunately people appeared mostly calm and accepting. There was dead silence from the venue. Not a word uttered to us. Nothing. At the same time, there were sirens sounding. Sounds of ambulances and the frequent sight of EMT staff carrying people out on gurneys. So many people passing by as I ducked under an escalator that I had to turn and face outside —away from the overwhelming crowds walking like zombies headed to nowhere—-to not get too dizzy. I get migraines and I could feel one coming. I just kept drinking water cause I was sweating a lot from the heat and I am not someone who typically sweats. It was a nightmare.

An 80 year old woman (Doris) was there alone (bravo to her—she said she’d seen Bruno mars and Santana recently) and was sitting on a keg or something one of the staff gave her to perch on while she held her head and sipped water. Whatever she was perched on slipped out from under her and she crashed on her back onto the cement floor. I tried to get her help. They asked if she was okay and she said I think so repeatedly. She asked them for a seat and there was not a single seat in this holding pen. So if you were in need and not in a wheelchair you were out of luck. She literally went into the bathroom and lined the toilet seat with paper towels and sat in there. She said her seat was near mine two rows ahead and I didn’t see her there. I pray she’s okay. True story.

Thanks for listening. I needed to get this out. Obviously.

I beg to differ. I saw TS at a football stadium and it was incredible the way she used the entire stage. No bad seats. I have heard Beyoncé does the same.

Fed Ex Field is horrible. We went to a concert not long ago (not Beyonce), and I will never go to another event there. It took longer for us to go one mile to park than it took to get to the venue from Virginia. The restrooms were disgusting. We couldn't find one that would flush, and they were all so gross and full of crap. Never again.

The Merriweather situation included flooding and spectators in water with electrical equipment.

Both of these examples show that these venues do not have the ability to handle inclement weather and communications. People were stuck tonight inside for quite some time with no information as to what was going on.

Or they show the effects of climate change and the fact that stadiums built 20+ years ago were not built for the amount of rain we get now.

You can’t be a good advocate for climate if you say things this dumb.

Truly idiotic. I grew up here. We have always received drenching summer storms.

I grew up here too. We were NOT as worried about flooding and it didn’t happen as often. I lived close to Merriweather and NO it did not flood like that. It didn’t flood like that because rain storms have more water now than they used to.
Like I said i have no problem being a poor ambassador for climate change.
I understand this is hard for some to hear, but this has changed within my lifetime.

Omnipotent Swifties have spoken for Her. Begone with you and your dangerous opinions that Taylor does not know and foresee all!

Peace out y’all- sorry to those who had a horrible time at FEDEx field, I hope that that place gets destroyed and we get a football stadium with a retractable roof!
