Unless there is some other bigger story, I think these are typical situations and have nothing to do with that particular facility. Also, people were sheltering in place because of the storm.
Merriweather had a major issue a few years ago during a storm. Outdoor concerts in DC are a no go.
There’s room under cover for people at FedEx and other football stadiums. Merriweather is a totally different thing.
The Merriweather situation included flooding and spectators in water with electrical equipment. [twitter]https://twitter.com/bennyokay_/status/1534747364103274499?s=46&t=vUyzW6Nmj4eHKi2tRha-Ew[/twitter]
Both of these examples show that these venues do not have the ability to handle inclement weather and communications. People were stuck tonight inside for quite some time with no information as to what was going on.
Or they show the effects of climate change and the fact that stadiums built 20+ years ago were not built for the amount of rain we get now.
You can’t be a good advocate for climate if you say things this dumb.
+100 Truly idiotic. I grew up here. We have always received drenching summer storms.
I grew up here too. We were NOT as worried about flooding and it didn’t happen as often. I lived close to Merriweather and NO it did not flood like that. It didn’t flood like that because rain storms have more water now than they used to. Like I said i have no problem being a poor ambassador for climate change. I understand this is hard for some to hear, but this has changed within my lifetime.
