| I’m in Florida now. Last night saw a guy holding onto what looked like a gun in his waistband. Then he pulled a ski mask on. This was in a busy, upscale beach area. Within 5 minutes cops were there and had him in cuffs. I have no idea how they worked so fast but it was impressive. |

My husband and I grew up in central FL and lived there until 2011. Our families are still there and often pressure us about moving back. I see stats like this touted, along with education, and consider it momentarily. Without fail, when I dig in, there are huge issues with the data.
I do miss the beaches, Disney, afternoon thunderstorms, decent Cuban sandwiches, live oak trees with Spanish moss, etc. But I have elementary aged kids now and I can’t imagine deciding to raise them there. (Also, I do NOT miss the heat, love bugs, fire ants, and sandspurs. Most of nature in Florida actively hates humanity.) |
