It just sounds gross to be going there from June-Sept and I can’t imagine it being exclusive at all during that time.

Fishers Island, Sconset, Old Newport yes, decamping to sweatville with mosquitos and mobs, absolutely not.

Not true. It’s full of old money southerners in the summers. When I was in college I was regularly a vacation nanny for one such family and it was full of other similar families.

There is no old money in the South. “Bless your heart” as y’all might say.

Bwahahahaha. Mmmmkay.

Is 1880 old to you? 1900? Silly. You live in a small, small world.

You don’t seem very well educated. Virginia was settled by British colonists in the 17th century.

Yes. And then there were some intervening issues that destroyed great amounts of wealth. Well deserved destruction from my perspective. The real money that has abided for centuries isn’t in Virginia or in “tobackee” families like the Dukes or the Reynolds. Sorry.

Talk about pretentious...

I am not trying to impress you or present any kind of anything other than the facts. Sorry.

When I was growing up in Greenwich Ct in the 1980s my mother always wanted us to go there, but we never did.

Kiawah is not for everyone. It is for rich people who go to the beach, play tennis, golf, bike and spend family time together. There is no nightlife. No go carts. No mini golf. It is beach, sports, dinner and bed. Some people may hate that. If so stay away.

It is heaven for people who love it.

Not really, but I'm black and we go a lot. I really enjoyed it there.

My kids loved Bald Head Island more. They had surfing lessons and that made the trip!

My teens took surfing lessons at the Kiawah sanctuary and loved it.

Mobs? Clearly you’ve never been to Kiawah. There’s a limit to the number of people on island at any given time. It never feels crowded even at peak season.

Of course I have never been there in the summer. Played some golf in the fall and that is it. There are 4 other families in total on my New England beach right now and it’s 70 degrees and perfect. That is why my street is known as “Billionaires row.” There are about 50 houses along a few mile stretch. The weather is awesome, the crowds are minuscule, and the setting is perfect.

And your water is cold, choppy, shark infested, and the sand, if there is something other than rocks, is ugly.

None of those things are true. Zero. Not on our beach. You know nothing.

It’s 70 degrees outside your billionaire row beach getaway. What’s the water temp?

It was 70 degrees today. Perfect for me and not the 85-90 bathwater in SC.

70 degree water? That’s great - if you are interested in freezing your Johnson off

This is all true. Like it or not, take it or leave it. On Kiawah, you don’t see a bunch of kids on devices and needing to be entertained 24/7. The culture of these families is spending a lot of family time together doing things “off the grid“.
You see many multi generational families, enjoying their time together. You see older teenagers, having fun on the beach or in the pool, not sulking in a device on their towel. It’s a place to go and chill and reset and that’s important for kids and teens too. With all that said, I recognize not everyone is down for that lifestyle.

You think kids don’t have devices at Kiawah? What?

I’m saying you see kids stuck with their nose in a device on the beach or pool. It’s a more active family oriented time. We’ve been coming for years.

You don’t think people do all of this in places with nicer weather and much better amenities?

I actually feel badly for the folks who think they have hit the apex. They haven’t. So many better options. You should be learning from your mistakes, moving on to better and thanking me.
