Do you know if there were siblings.

He was an only child. For probation has to stay in NY, so probably with his mother or (ex?) girlfriend.

Scummy press, harassing a 92 year old woman.

His long-term girlfriend, Shawn Kovell, is still in New York. She adored him for some reason, wouldn’t be surprising if he goes there. Unless he has younger groupies he finds more appealing. Really sucks that he’s out.

She is a moron. And let's not forget how the Catholic church helped with his case.

What did the Catholic Church do?

A bishop and priests wrote letters of support, including for bail. Mother was apparently heavily involved with the church.

Yes. I heard a podcast within the last year that suggested Chambers had been sexually molested by Cardinal McCarrick, who was an uncle (I think) of Chambets.
I’m sure he’ll break his probation and be back in jail within the year. I just hope he doesn’t hurt anyone. He’s a bad seed.

Anyone remember Alex Kelley from Greenwich? That case was nuts.

You must be someone who thinks there's been no uptick in crime in DC and that the violent youths shouldn't be prosecuted.

Dollars to donuts he and the long-term girlfriend hook up again and get into trouble. I think it will be shocking if he makes it a year without violating parole and his parole is lengthy.

I'm genuinely curious as to whether a person who's spent 2/3 of their life in jail, and seems to have been a total dirtbag, can be rehabilitated.

Yup, married the GF he was busted dealing drugs with, who stuck by him all these decades. He was surprised no-one came to his wedding.

Seems like maybe he's had some therapy, oscillates between trying to take some responsibility and playing the victim. There is an off-the-cuff interview with him here. A real talker, which surprised me.

This guy murdered an innocent woman. You don’t know what you are talking about.

I know exactly what he did (and how he smeared her memory in his defense). Still feel the same way.

Creepy. Sounds like you empathize with him. What kind of urges do you have, PP? What kind of punishment do you think is acceptable for someone who strangles a woman and rapes her while she is dying?

It will be shocking if he makes it a year without killing someone else. Though now he's had plenty of time to figure out how to plan and hide the body better.

His issue is more likely to be drugs, can he stay clean with his history of addiction.

He is a POS.

Isn’t he the one who raped a classmate then went on the run in Europe for years with the aid of his parents? Married a Scandinavian woman?

Whatever happened to him, did they finally send him to prison?

I just found this article about his life post-release from prison. Sounds like he has not rehabilitated well at all.

US jails do not seek to rehabilitate. European jails do.

US jails offer options for rehabilitation. Although I'm not keen on Leslie van Houton's release, she availed herself of educational opportunities and was apparently well-liked by the many female inmates she tutored. Earned an MA in Philosophy, might be able to get a community college teaching job based on that and her work with the inmates.

Chambers did some work toward a BA and a paralegal certificate, but not clear if he actually finished anything. He comes across as very ADHDish in his interview, or maybe his brain is just scrambled by drugs and long stretches of solitary. Hard to see what he can do.
