That's teens and tweens for you. They're not cold so whatever. Or, even if they are cold, they certainly won't admit it!

Totally dumb, but if this is the extent of my kid’s rebellious streak, I’m fine with it.

What do they wear?

DP.

Joggers. Only joggers.

I actually make my boys wear jeans once a week. Just so they remain familiar with the feel of clothing that's not joggers.

Like, to school? Ours has a strict dress code (I'm the polo and jeans poster), so this is bizarre to me. Like, they actually wear joggers in public? I need to pay more attention in the grocery store, I guess.

If your kids are going to a private school with a strict dress code, your observations on what MS boys wear may not be mainstream.

Sure, but...kids really wear joggers to SCHOOL?

Where are you posting from, 1953?

That is pretty much all middle school boys wear, or athletic shorts. Or PJ pants with crocs. And hoodies. That is all they wear.
Next you will be expressing shock that they aren't all getting regular crew
Cuts?

My kids say the school building is hot, and shorts are comfortable for PE

My 12 yo cares very much about brands. Air force ones, Nike sweatshirts and shorts, etc.

Look up Adidas Joggers. They were popular. Everyone sells joggers. I have some Vince joggers and some from rag & bone. They have peaked and aren’t as popular anymore but I don’t know what you’re thinking of .

Now he says that he wants everything to be as plain as possible so it's cream colored Crocs, plain white tees, and longish slim Bermuda shorts and regular pants from Zara, H & M, and Old Navy. I'm floored but it's a welcome change for my budget.

Am seeing the same transition in DS. What gives?

My 7th grader kid is all plain. No logos. Refuses to wear his athletic dry fit t’s even though they still fit because they have the Nike logo…drives me nuts. He’s embracing his looks though and becoming aware of himself, so it’s pretty cute when I’m not annoyed about perfectly good clothes just sitting there

You permit the pajama pants? 🙄

Maybe it’s regional? I don’t see any of my 12y.o. son’s friends or notice other kids at camps or classes in joggers anymore. It’s jeans, chino-type pants, cargo pants, and non-sport shorts unless actively engaged in sports.

My son would rather wear a tuxedo than jeans.

What’s wrong with joggers? I wear mine everywhere.

+1 from a middle age mom. I love my joggers.

My 8th grader is essentially the same, with athletic brands, solid colors, crocs or sneakers.

Except he does express a lot of interest in jewelry. So its necklace, earrings, bracelets, etc. as a form of self-expression

But I think he's in the minority

When you get a little further out of the burbs, the "country boys" will wear jeans.

Does he make jewelry? It’s a fun activity. Get rid of the crocs and he’ll be all set.
