This is so bizarre. You move into a residence zoned for a "home" school, yet since it's part of the DCCC and you are already a DCCC student, one cannot attend the home school?

If so, this would be reason #1 why I would never want B-CC or Woodward or any other school to be absorbed into a consortium.

Your "home school" is the DCC.

No, the home school is Blair which is part of the DCC.

No, it's not. Blair is the "base school."

If you put an address in the DCC into the MCPS school assignment tool, what you get for the high school assignment is: "DCC ([base school])" - where [base school] is the name of whichever of the 5 DCC high schools the address is in the base area of.

Op, what does Blair say. Last year I wanted my child back at their home school and I just emailed the registrar at the home school and they took care of it for me.

What did you email them saying? Also, was this a DCC school or another school within MCPS? Thank you

The registrar does not that power if a DCC school. You must go through the Consortia with appropriate paperwork.

OP, just follow the rules and wait until next year.

What rules? Yours?

Home is in Blair area. Blair is home school. Families aren’t tied to past addresses.

DP. MCPS's rules. For enrollment in the DCC. Home is in the DCC area.

As a former registrar, do you think there’s anything I can do in this situation? Thank you

Home is Blair that’s why it is listed.

Base school and home school mean the same thing.

Hi, OP here, I just wanted to get back on topic and ask if anyone has successfully unenrolled then reenrolled their child in an mcps/dcc school. If so, I’d really appreciate if you could help me through the process. When I unenroll my child, do I say she’s going to private school? Do I have to provide the school name? I’m just feeling really confused here. Thanks

OP, if you were talking to me about this at a party, I would ask: what do you plan to do if this doesn't work?

Don’t unenroll your child. You aren’t guaranteed to get Blair when you reenroll. Just wait until January.

How would it not work? What could happen?

You unenroll your child.
MCPS says ok.
You try to reenroll your child at Blair.
MCPS says no, that's not how it works, your child will be enrolled at the previously-assigned DCC school (not Blair).

Then what would you do?

Also, how long would your child be unenrolled, and what will your child do for school during that time?
