You and I must have a different definition of “pretty good.” The highest ranked schools I saw were the University of Michigan, UVA and Georgetown (about 1 admit per school). I didn’t see a single Ivy, or even a top 20 university.

So what happens when a Holy Child student crosses paths with her superior? That would be an equally good looking and wealthy Sidwell, GDS, NCS, Holton (1st tier), Stoneridge, Visitation, Maret (2nd tier), or Bullis (3rd tier) student?

Answer: She should drop the pretense or risk getting her feelings hurt.

Their life trajectories are going to be entirely different. My NCS daughter and friends will end up being Big law associates and medical residents. They'll work really hard and some will end up being very successful and wealthy. The Holy Child girls will end up marrying commercial real estate or finance guys and end up being very wealthy. There is very little cross over between the two worlds (a tiny handful of NCS girls who are in this Holy Child world and of course they are the popular NCS girls). There are some STA or Sidwell boys who want the NCS girl but many (most?) want the HC girl. Can you blame them?--they are beautiful, fun, etc. For what it's worth, I have the intellectual NCS type so I am not glorifying this phenomenon, just reporting on it.

Sorry to hear about your NCS daughter’s plight. My beautiful AND brilliant daughter attends one of the Tier 1 schools listed above, and she has no shortage of male attention and dates.

My daughter will be a freshman at HC this year / she got into “better schools” that you all are mentioning but really loved the vibe at HC. Because they are so small they can really cater to the students and the girls seemed very happy to her. The teachers also seemed to her to be very invested and she remarked on the connections they had with the students. For us, we want our daughter to be academically challenged of course but most importantly want her to be happy and confident ☺️

This is by far one of the most disturbing and toxic threads I’ve seen on DCUM. And as we all know, there have been a fair share of toxic and disturbing threads over the years.
The opinions, assumptions and generalizations about high school girls say more about the people posting than about the girls and their families.
It is my understanding that parents send their children to private schools to support their academic success, their intellectual growth and their social-emotional development. We all do our best for our kids. Some of us have bigger budgets to work with.
If you are considering a private school for your child, visit the school and get real information. Then take time to meet some of actual students and parents IN PERSON. Let your child shadow a student for at least a day.
For the people spewing crap about teenagers and their families on here - take a look at yourselves and be a better example for your own kids.
