Recommend a daily sunscreen

UVA rays cause wrinkles. American sunscreens don’t contain high or reliable coverage against UVA rays. They don’t even claim to do so. The bottles only refer to “broad coverage”. You are correct that American sunscreens protect again UVB rays which also damage the skin in particular ways. If you are concerned about wrinkles and sun spots, get 50 plus European or Asian sunscreen.

Mineral sunscreens made in the US do that just fine.

+1

I have very oily skin, btw, and LRP Anthelios works for me without causing breakouts

This but the European version if you actually want to block the skin damaging rays.

This is silly. The proposition that only European sunscreens block "skin damaging rays" just isn't true. They do have better chemicals, but American sunscreens work.

Avobenzone is proven to protect against the entire UVA spectrum, and that's widely available in American sunscreens. It just degrades quickly -- about an hour. But if the sunscreen has octocrylene in it, that stabilizes the avobenzone more. European ones may be better, I haven't really looked. But we can get good sunscreens here too. Which is important, IMO, because they are cheaper than European and therefore accessible to more people.

I like the Trader Joe's supergoop dupe.

OP, the ones that don't feel icky to me are:

Kiehls Super Fluid UV Defense Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+

It feels almost like water going on and then dries matte, not slimy.

Almost as nice, but way cheaper:
Original SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Lotion
Not quite as watery, but also dries matte and not slimy

I starts using La Roche Posat Anthelios and it feels lightweight and has a matte finish. It seems to be making my skin look better too. It has 60 SPF. It’s pricey, though, at $36 for 1.7 fluid ounces. More economical is Cerave Ultra Light but it’s SPF 30. This feels more like a lotion than a matte sunscreen like La Roche Posay.

Anthelios is sticky AF. Supergoop is silicone-like, I can take or leave it. The actual liquid fluid sunscreen that dries without gunk is Paula’s Choice Ultralight.

I wanted to love this one, but over the day it sunk in my pores like little polka dots and into wrinkles. And streaks horribly when I sweat in this heat ... like a white version of Guiliani’s hair dye.

Olay Complete Daily Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin

Thank you for this review! I was almost convinced to buy! But I also have pore issues, so it sounds like this is a No for me.

Where can we try these on? I want to feel before buying.

Elta MD for me, been using it for many years now

Another vote for EltaMD. I use the UV Daily or, when I want a little bit of tint, the UV Restore.

I used to use replenix sheer mineral. It was only zinc (no titanium) and it was amazing. They added titanium to it and the feel completely changed.

I need a non-greasy, non-shiny, matte-ish, non-tinted sunscreen that you stop feeling on your face after the first five minutes. I can’t find it.

I am now of the large floppy hat population.
