Facials are a waste of money

When I got regular massages… one time I switched up and got a facial from the same place.

It was even more relaxing. I would do it keep often, but I want to tend to my own facial issues and skincare. I think facials also push out / pop pimples, where I like to be more gentle to my sensitive skin. I don’t feel like I need to extract as much as keep my skin calm and nicely lotioned.

I do monthly facials and after about 3-4 months, noticed a huge difference in my skin’s tone, texture and hydration. It has only improved now that I’ve been doing this for a few years.

This is so unnecessary. Can you not wash your own face? Significant extraction is hard on skin and ages you. It is better not to mess with the skin’s natural processes.

Um, dermatologists make bank pushing snake oil products and Botox on everyone — and surgical help.

My Dermatologist has never pushed anything.

I did one monthly for a year and noticed nothing. The only improvement was from Tretinoin.

I think good skin care makes all the difference. My mom and mil never had a facial in their life (and no botox or anything like that) and they both have amazing skin. I have a good routine myself and I'd say I look pretty great.

It was $1000 for 14 facials as a subscription service, it's normally $140 there without one. They also do botox and other kinds of facials. I figured if it didn't clear up my skin, maybe they will help me prevent wrinkles and texture. I was very consistent with going every month but only noticed my skin would look great a week after getting my facial, and it only lasted a few days. It could have been related to my cycle. Life happened this spring and I didn't get to go for 3 months. There was NO difference in my skin tone with it getting better or worse. I found a face wash that cleared up all of the acne for $15 at CVS. Got a prescription from the derm for tretinoin, use a great moisturizer and SPF 2-3 times a day. My skin has never looked better from these few steps. Every time I leave my facial I feel scammed. I can't wait until I am done wasting an hour+ going there plus leaving a $30 tip. Every esthetician who works there is full of botox and it feels like I'm being deceived.

The only women I know who regularly get facials are insecure and vain and not very savvy. Facials are relaxing and fine once in awhile but they don’t do much.

I clench my jaws. Years ago, I used to get facials and loved it - it was like a massage but for my face where I hold my stress.
