Girls name feedback (our list)

I love Molly, in part because I know a wonderful one. Miranda isn't bad.

How about Margo? You could still do Daisy. Or Maya?

From your list I like Daphne and prefer Thea to Theodora. I'm getting a Greek vibe so what about Phoebe, Helen, Thalia/Talia, or Clio/Cleo?

If you don't pick something with an M for the first name, I think Maria or Marie go with a lot of names.

I only like Thea and Virginia, though I prefer something like Tessa or Vivian. Keep brainstorming!

I’m iffy about Virginia but Guinevere could be shortened to Ginnie too and I think it’s a nicer full name

I'm a Megan from the 80's and would love for it to make a comeback! Aren't dated names back in now?

People tend to be named for their great-grandparents. So Megan probably still has a while. With that said, I think it's a nice name that everyone will recognize and pronounce, and there won't be a lot of others. If OP likes it, go for it!

Rhiannon--LOVE

Daisy (maybe on its own, maybe as nickname for Margaret)--Definitely give her Margaret with Daisy as a nickname.

Maxine--I will always see this as a frumpy, middle aged, chain smoking office worker circa 1983

Molly--cute but not the best of your list

Virginia, nn Ginny--LOVE

Daphne--LOVE

Thea, maybe Theodora as a full name--Like Daisy, give her the full name and use Thea as a nickname

Calliope, nn Callie--No

Miranda (no nickname, and we actively dislike Randy as a nn so nervous about this one though we really like it)--meh. Not the worst on your list but definitely not in the top.

Michaela--one step below Miranda

Maura/Maureen
Mona
Maeve (works best if you have an Irish last name)
Marisol (works best if you have a Spanish last name)
Millicent (nick name Millie)

and not an M name but I think might fit with some of your other choices:
Lucinda (with a nick name Lulu?)

Meredith was on one of my lists but vetoed by my DH because he claims he's never heard it before (??? sometimes I think he's an alien) and it sounds to his ear like "Merry-Death." We both get full veto power so it's out, and also now I'll never see that name without thinking Merry-Death, I guess. Thanks, DH.

I do like Megan, though! I will test it out with him. Do people have spelling/pronunciation thoughts on that one? Meghan? Megan? Meagan?

Also, wildcard, but the name Megan made me think of Brooke, which I like. Thoughts on that?

Lol, I actually agree with your DH on the "merry death." I always hear the "death" in Meredith and can't stand the name.

Rhiannon is just bad and I don’t know what song people are referring to.

The only Virgina I know HATES her name.

Molly is a good name for a dog.

The rest are ok. My 18 year old has a friend named Dorothea, which sounds better that Theodora to me. She goes by Dori.

Ever since Meghan Markle I've started to hate the name Meghan

Would like feedback (associations, like/dislike, etc.) just to get a sense of how these names might be received. We don't want to tell friends or family about names we're considering because we made that mistake last time and people were really annoying about it. So trying to use DCUM to get that same kind of feedback, but from strangers instead of my mom or our friends, who were sometimes hypercritical or kept trying to push certain names/nicknames on us and just pestered us too much. TIA!

The list:

Rhiannon
Daisy (maybe on its own, maybe as nickname for Margaret)
Maxine
Molly
Virginia, nn Ginny
Daphne
Thea, maybe Theodora as a full name
Calliope, nn Callie
Miranda (no nickname, and we actively dislike Randy as a nn so nervous about this one though we really like it)
Michaela

Also open to suggestions. Only parameters are: no names that start with a vowel, the first initial "M" would be nice but we aren't restricting ourselves to that. Also open to middle name suggestions because we have absolutely no idea!

Friend of mine just named their child Maxine. I like it. They'r calling her Maxie!

It's a song from 1975 by Fleetwood Mac.
