I think it’s a totally fair question (not a “gotcha” by any means) and would tell us a lot about that person. It would be particularly relevant with Haley, given her experience with the South Carolina state flag.

You do know she *removed* the Confederate flag from the SC capitol building - right?

What do you want, a cookie? Sorry, you don't credit for that.

I don’t get credit for that - SHE gets credit for that. Sorry that triggers you, but she was the only SC governor to remove that flag. Good for her.

And she is now apologizing for it, claiming she had to do it because people were blaming racism for a South Carolina neoConfederate punk slaughtering Black church ladies praying at their church.

Are all of the conservative commentators who insisted on calling Obama Barak Hussein Obama going to refer to her as Nimarata Haley? Just wondering

YES! All those idiots on the left were blaming neoconfederate racism when we all know for a fact that Dylann Roof's actions had nothing at all to do with the Confederate fla.... uhhhh ummm...

Haley was born to Punjabi Indian immigrants and was named Nimrata Nikki Randhawa. Her legal middle name has this been Nikki since her birth -- she did not choose that name, nor did she "anglicize" her first name from Nimrata to Nikki.

Second, while Nikki is a common American nickname, it is a Punjabi one as well. As Tunku Varadarajan explained in a Wall Street Journal editorial, “'Nikki' is a Punjabi word that means 'little one,' often used as a term of endearment for the youngest girl in a Sikh family."

Her biggest error. Never should have removed our flag.

Racist. And don't even bother talking about "heritage" as the confederacy only lasted 4 years. Hell man, even the show South Park has lasted six times longer than the confederacy did. Time to get a grip and move on, lost causers!

Pretty sure you're responding to a LWNJ troll, which just makes you look more foolish than usual.

Ehh nope, there are sadly far too many southern neoconfederates out there who genuinely believe it, which makes you the one looking foolish.

Getting back to the topic at hand, she's talked her way into a corner: no mainstream Republican will support such extreme views, and no extreme right winger will want a non-white woman on the ticket.

Very bad calculus, Ms. Haley.

No extreme right winger wants any woman on the ticket.

How is this presidential?

I think she is saying the school itself is the gun free zone, and thus an inviting target.

She literally said the world should acquiesce to Putin; she said the trans issue is the single biggest issue facing women (i mean, we are talking about fewer than 20 gender affirming procedures NATIONALLY per year) - I think *most* women would think managing the bodies is the single biggest issue facing women.

At one point, I thought she was an effective governor and had a future on the national stage. But it is clear she is no where ready fr prime time and her views are too extreme to the right for this moderate voter.

When did she say acquiesce to Putin? She is one of the biggest warmongers, and a favorite of neocons.

Refer to the picture above of Dylann Roof holding a confederate flag. Hate to inform you but that's real, and there are tons of other RW nutjobs who celebrate the confederacy. The smooth brain in context here is clearly you, no matter how much you try to make it about random DCUM posters.

But you want to give out cookies to people for saying they oppose slavery.

I also disagree with having schools be gun free zones, but for an entirely different reason. Gun free zones around schools aren't any kind of answer. Laws that attempt to protect schools are just caving in to criminals and conceding a loss on everything else. Instead of giving criminals space and freedom and targets, we need to be CRACKING DOWN ON CRIMINALS by fixing our gun laws and making it harder for criminals and the mentally ill to get guns.
