It sounds like your options are not taking the job at all now, because it doesn't work for your family - or at least raising the possibility of remote work and seeing what happens. I think you're right that when a hiring process goes on this long, they do run the risk that YOUR circumstances will have changed by the time they get around to actually filling the position. I can't see how it hurts to ask, anyway - the counterfactual is that you turn the job down without asking for this accommodation. Anyway for all you know THEIR workplace policies have changed since you started interviewing! 6 months is a long time!! |
Op here. I already explained the change in DW’s job only happened in the last week. My final interview was at the end of March. I didn’t string them along. |
You people are so pathetic. Not only can you not read what the OP has stated multiple times, but it’s not dishonest. Everything is a negotiation. Everything, especially in this labor market. The employee is in the power position and does not owe any loyalties to the company. I have people negotiate benefits, salary, and working conditions/locations all the time. Just because a jobs salary range is 200-275, doesn’t mean someone shouldn’t ask for 300k. Same concept. You all are so bush league. Right now my company is trying to make everyone hybrid and every single person I interview had pushed back. Every. Single. One. I’ve had to get multiple waivers or else I wouldn’t be able to staff. |
