What's funny about this thread is that the people criticizing Birks and Tevas are actually the unfashionable ones, and the people posting studded cage mules (wtf?) and gladiator sandals are horribly out of step.

Also, hate to break this to you, but if you have great legs and a nice tan, Birkenstocks look cute, and if you have pasty thunder thighs, those Valentions won't save you.

I like the last ones. The middle ones are I guess back in style with all the 90s stuff but the gladiator sandals seem a bit of a stretch (although I agree they are pretty).

I don’t believe in sandals that go with everything.

There are sandals you wear by the pool, sandals you wear on a hot summer day at a sports tournament, and sandals you wear with a sundress to a daytime event. You can be fashionable in all these settings but the sandals will be different.

I'll be wearing the world's ugliest sandals this summer in triple black while hiking, SUPing, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, strolling around town, going to outdoor music concerts, Shakespeare in the Park...
When it gets cold, I'll wear them with some merino wool socks.

For a fancier outing, I have Mephisto sandals with Swarovski crystals on the bands. But I prefer my Keens.

I have wide feet and they don't look good in strappy cute sandals, so I just wear the most comfortable sandals in black I can find.
