That's a lie. FCPS profiles show real-time enrollment. TJ started this year with 1971 and now have 1952 - a loss of 19 students. In 2018, they started with 1781 and had 1766 by March of 2019 - a loss of 16 students. There is nothing out of the ordinary happening this year. This is all public info from FCPS profiles. |
they just tried to put different races in TJ, my dc's school 2 of each race got in. FUNNY |
I trust this data. A large attrition number will be a counter evidence on the inclusive admission. FCPS will do whatever it takes to maintain those diversity medals. |
Exactly, the pro-prep posters have always tried to manipulate the facts in the hope of returning to gameable process. |
I know and it's so challenging, too since admission is race blind. |
Academies of Loudoun has the same per school quota, with a maximum per school as well. They do a better job of selecting top students within a school. |
It's been reported on here that TJ admissions is 1.5% for every school, including ones not in Fairfax.
These people who are supposed to know frequently get things wrong. For example, a counselor who did a home visit said AOS and each school of AET were 150 students. |
Fel the same in my DC MS. Kids who never stood out got in in any events |
Our MS is 1500 kids, half of whom are AAP. It's not easy to stand out in a place like that. |
Oh come on. It’s not that a school has dumber students but it’s accurate to say that 100% under this new quote policy, it becomes, in part, not about obtaining the best of the best but obtaining the best of those who apply from each school. Higher performing kids from places like Cooper will be booted out while very possibly lower performing kids from a lower SES school will be admitted. That’s bc of the quota system. It is NOT about the best kids in the area. |
Except for 1 PP who keeps trying to argue otherwise, most people understand this. It’s just a difference of opinion about whether that change is a good thing or not. On my view I think it is so a small handful of MSs aren’t getting the overwhelming share of seats still. |
They will find another way to game the system. Now things are new though, and it may take a little while to figure out how to exploit the loopholes of the new system. |
This is perfect example of innumeracy - a lack of ability to reason with numbers. Slowly and one step at a time. 1. Enrollment increased for the class of 2025 and onwards to 550. 2. The majority of the decrease in the class of 2025 occurred at the end of the freshmen year when they returned to base school. You would not know this looking at aggregate data. Why? Because the graduated class of 2022 would have graduated 450 or around that number but they have enrolled 550. Many students drop out at the end of the year and not during the class year. You need to look at a little more in-depth. Not surface level analysis like you did. Whoever employed you, hopefully do not put you in a position that involves data analysis. |
Oh come on yourself, stop confusing higher-performing with privilege. These advantages are not the same as intelligence. Sorry if that's an inconvenient fact. |
Hopefully you realize that you are confirming your priors with stupid surface level analysis like this. See my post above. |
