Why would it matter?

Lots of LACs have great alumni. Wellesley has Madeline Albright, Hillary Clinton, Nora Ephron, Diane Sawyer, and Cokie Roberts. I think most people in the US and a lot in the world know all of these names.

Yeah but they don’t know them for going to Wellesley. I didn’t know they went there until you just said so. I knew Hillary went to YLS.

1. Jeffrey Dahmer

(stupid, stupid, so stupid thread)

I never thought about Dahmer’s education, so I googled it. He’d already committed his first murder before he went to college. He went to Ohio State for 3 months and had a .45 GPA. The only class he didn’t flunk was riflery. He didn’t take any anatomy or culinary classes.

Please take this with the best intentions, but I think you missed the point by a few hundred miles.

There aren't famous people who are famous for having gone to a school. They usually become famous for some achievement after they graduate. There are a few instances of famous people going to college or athletes who become famous in their college sport. Just having attended Princeton or VT or any other school doesn't grant fame.

Of course. But most people only know them for those things they did after they graduated, and rarely even know where they went to school.

No — I didn’t think this information was germane to the thread topic, but when someone mentioned him, I was trying to picture Dahmer as a college student, so I googled it. Can you imagine having been his roommate?!
