It’s not always about quantity of playing time. I think how well he does when he gets in is more important. I have seen bench basketball players get scholarships to play in college. |
Your kid needs to go to any and all camps where coaches might be present. Lack of playing time in both HS and Club, even if it is the same coach is a red flag. If they can't start at this level, why do you think any coaches at the next level would even give a glance? |
. ? Please explain. This is not normal. |
Basketball recruiting is all about AAU. High school doesn’t matter. |
It's this. |
No, sorry, there has to be a reason he's not getting playing time and that reason probably will impact his playing in college, too, so it absolutely matters. |
| What are some reasons a coach won't play a talented kid on the team? |
Not really. Your just curious. It doesn't matter bc that aspect of it can't be changed. That said, I posted above the reason but I won't say more about it. I'm not saying anything identifying. Period. |

OP's kid does not get along with the coach's kid -- for anyone looking for the reason. |
A+ attempt at baiting into a response that gives you what you want. Well done. |
Of course. This girl was good enough for one of the best AAU clubs in the area and rode a high school bench behind girls who would never make that club let alone play for their top team |
What sport has a coach who has a kid on the team at a high level of play? That would not be the norm in the sports I am familiar with. Club teams have professional coaches. High schools have professional coaches. If that is happening, it’s time to switch clubs. |
Occasionally you see it in AAU where a one off team is built around a kid, but the established clubs that I'm familiar with has rules baring it |
I'm not OP, but my brother moved across the country with my family during the middle of junior year of high school (after football season). He should have been a varsity starter on the new school's football team as a senior the next fall, but was told that he "didn't have enough of a track record" to get any playing time. He'd been a varsity starter all three years at his prior school and walked on to a college team the next year. The HS coach just didn't want to displace the senior he'd already coached for three years in that position, even if my brother was better. It happens. |
