It's pretty funny that you think it was me posting. To clear up a few things...

1) I'm far from the only person who feels this way about a very clear issue.
2) I don't post on here anonymously, so if you don't see the name it's not me.
3) My full name is on the about section of my website.

Hi Jason. You can call yourself whatever you want, but you're not moderate, and you don't represent Montgomery County.

i beg to differ. I’m liberal and think he is spot on. he seems conservative to super progressives. and many people here are super progressive. those folks think anyone who doesn’t agree with them is a Trump supporter. It isn’t true and it’s not fair that the progressives completely shut out regular liberals. policy made in an echo chamber is almost always bad policy. and that is why MoCo is in decline. not because progressive policies are bad, but because they aren’t pragmatic. tempering them a bit with regular liberal (or gasp, moderate) input would make things much more successful.

Who is shutting you out, specifically, and how are they doing it?

I do not obsess about Jason, but from what I've seen, most of the candidates Jason supports lose. That, if nothing else, will tell you that he doesn't represent Montgomery County. Not to mention the hubris of setting yourself up to represent Montgomery County in the first place.

The whole past four years' worth of bills have been virtue signaling without trying to figure out how things could be operationalized.

At the very foundation is racial equity. They are trying to close gaps with really poor policy that actually makes things worse for people of color, instead of taking more measured approaches that might not close the equity gap, but would actually make things better for people of color. But anyone who asks them to slow down a bit is accused of being racist. So everybody suffers, including the populations the politicians purport to care about.

As far as what Jason's named his blog, I'm not sure why this bothers people so much. Nobody thinks he's trying to speak for the county as a whole. Nobody even thinks he's trying to speak for all moderates in the county. He is providing a platform and perspective for those who would like to see more measured approaches to change.

No, but people who say racist things are often accused of saying racist things. Not to mention that this isn't anyone shutting anyone out. When I express an opinion about an opinion you expressed, I'm not shutting you out. Just like you're not shutting me out when you express an opinion about an opinion I expressed. If you expect to be able to express an opinion and get only agreement as a response - well, I don't know what to say.

I'm not going to get into arguments about whether someone who literally calls his public persona "Moderately MoCo" or "MoCo Moderately" is or isn't setting himself up to speak for all moderates in Montgomery County.

And Moco360 is setting themselves up to speak for all of MOco? How about Moco show?

It’s a name and the only reason a certain small group are bitter about it is that it has quickly risen in popularity and following.

As far as “Moderate” goes, my views would be consider left of center in the vast majority of the US.

Middle of the road voices are extremely needed especially when you have people like the person in this thread trying to hijack any conversation into a personal attack (on me or others) because they can’t handle actually debating and discussing the issues.

So they have turned this thread from the corruption of creating a new job just for one specific person that makes $214k a year (including benefits) to do a job that seems part time or maybe a 10 hour a week job into a question of what I named my blog 3 years ago. That’s exactly the type of thing that’s wrong with this county… people that can’t discuss an issue but would rather use ad hominem attacks to distract. Don’t fall for it.

Email you council members to oppose this new position being created through cronyism today!

PS - the candidates I picked for the most part did better than expected and the thousands who visited my website on Election Day and during mail in voting was a great indicator of how many people support common sense moderate candidates.

- Moderately MOCO

Are you really comparing yourself, personally, to a media outlet (MoCo360) and a news blog?

As for "moderately" - you can call yourself whatever you want, but "LeansRepublicanMoCo" would be more accurate, and no, that doesn't make you a moderate.

I run a news blog so … think what you wish. You’re clearly not my target audience as an extremist and completely triggered by someone sharing my post here.

Back to the topic: do you support creating a new position to hand to Craig Rice for $214k a year without doing much work and without bidding out the job to applicants?

I'm not an extremist, and your use of "triggered" supports my point about LeansRepublicanMoCo.

No you don't. You run an opinion blog - specifically, your opinion. I don't have a problem with that. Anybody who wants to have an opinion blog can do so.

I'm not an extremist, and your use of "triggered" supports my point about LeansRepublicanMoCo.

And yes it is a news blog. A blog is a type of website that includes opinions. The topic of my blog is news. And I have many contributors besides myself and working to increase that as our reach grows.

On topic: do you support creating a new position to hand to Craig Rice for $214k a year without doing much work and without bidding out the job to applicants?

When a word means something you don’t repeat the same word before it.

Voters- overwhelmingly approve term limits. Even when it was championed by Robin Ficker of all people.

Elrich and the council- "here- we'll just pay you 200k anyway, don't worry. No need to get a real job"

Now Elrich is saying that they haven’t actually picked anyone for the position but I don’t buy it.

“When asked whether he was picking someone versus a more formal application process, Elrich said: “Anytime county executives appoint people, they pretty much pick who they’re appointing. But we haven’t done anything yet … hopefully, the [County] Council thinks it’s a worthwhile position.””

I literally saw tweets of emails from Elrich or his staff asking about the status of CRAIG RICE'S APPOINTMENT.

He is picked. 100%

Thank you… I saw some didn’t have anonymous but didn’t know how to make that happen. I figured they were mods. I’ll look into it. Maybe that will prevent people from crying wolf about me posting as well
