Thrilled, pleased, disappointed, or devastated by Friday’s results?

Not a troll.

My kids go to Basis. Number 1 school in DC area for academics. You will have all your kids wishing they could get in in the next few years. I’m sure they will end up being more selective then all of your “Big 3” schools as they decline in academic quality and spend their time on Wokeness as an academic focus rather than academic subjects. Send info my kids to school to learn academics, not be taught about social justice, white fragility, defund police…….and that being a Caucasian is the root causes of everting evil in this country. Was not even born here and am South Asian.

How’s your kids’ mental health these days? I hear BASIS is wonderful for that….

Wow. New poster. I am a private school parent and think the Basis jokes on DCUM are mean spirited and stupid. But, If you want to make Basis look good - this rant is not the way to do it. I am a firm believer in picking the right school for the kid and have nothing against Basis. But any time a prospective parent Googles Basis, this is going to come up. And you make the whole school look bad in multiple ways…

So, from what I have been seeing on DCUM this is an almost impossible outcome. Now its extremely hard trying to get him to make a choice so we can send rejections to free up the spot as soon as possible so other deserving kids can gain acceptance.

Congrats! Can you tell us a little about your child's profile?

This year I was less optimistic, prepared to not be admitted anywhere, and possibly have to stay public. The application process was too exhausting and I am glad I don’t have to do this anymore.

My advice is to consider some schools in the future you normally wouldn’t, unless you are content in your local public.

If I may ask, are the boarding schools in the DC area ?

2 of them. Episcopal and Woodberry Forest, then Asheville in NC, and another in Tennessee

Thank you for your response.

As a side note: The Asheville School has received criticism for some of its practices regarding religion. I am also somewhat familiar with the Baylor School & McCallie.

Your son should have more than one option. Best wishes.

Not surprising if his credentials are stellar. Wow. He doesn't have a first choice? Can you elaborate?

Then you’re both the poster that goes to Basis as well as one that got rejected at Basis while getting accepted to Sidwell??

Congrats. Where’d you get in?

Thanks! We were accepted at NPS and St. Patrick’s, both of which we absolutely loved.

The Basis boosters bring the ridicule upon themselves by constantly touting a flawed Niche survey that none of the schools ranked above it give any credence. You think GDS or Sidwell families ever talk about the Niche ranking of their schools? I'm a parent at one of the two and can say with confidence that it's never come up and no one cares one bit. Because the site and its results are garbage.

He's a straight A's student in MCPS honors classes, plays two sports and has a very good personality that all of his teachers appreciate.

Eh, mildly disappointed, but keeping perspective. This is not a major problem - it's a small setback.

We applied to Big3 school for 8th for a sibling and got in.
Now we're having a bit of cold feet. When you're at a school you see all the good, bad and ugly and boy it's a LOT of money.

I am 100% not a troll. My DS is not perfect but he is very charismatic, funny, and smart. He knows it and tends to be able to gain acceptance in all circles and his teachers always like him. If I could post pictures, I would definitely prove it with the acceptance swag/info that he received.

My son is very charismatic, funny and smart too, but I would never describe him as having “a very good personality that all of his teachers appreciate.” It is just off. Troll.
