Thrilled, pleased, disappointed, or devastated by Friday’s results?

Thrilled! We applied to three schools for PreK, accepted at two and waitlisted at GDS (which had honestly become our third choice through the process). I can’t wait for the next few years.

What grade is your daughter in and why is she unhappy?

5th. She’s been experiencing bullying this year that is causing her to have panic attacks both in and outside of school. Administration’s response has been underwhelming and ineffective.

Congrats. Where’d you get in?

I’m going to say “4” - disappointed. Our kid got into everywhere they applied from DCPS but zero dollars in financial aid from any of them means none is doable.

Did you apply to any of the k-8s? Maybe give it some time and call around. Middle school at a k-8 is often their sweet spot and kids do join in 6th and 7th.

If the schools predicted their admissions yield correctly, then your rejections likely won't "free up" any spots. That said, congratulations on the great news!

Unlike most years, the admin teams will only accept x applicants for x spots. If someone does not accept, then go to waitlist. Unlike other years where you accept maybe 12 kids for 10 spots and assume 2 will go elsewhere. I don’t think admissions can risk over enrollment and may indeed to to waitlist?

You are referring to Georgetown Day in particular, right?

Sidwell is arguably one of the best schools if not the best school in the United States. You should be thrilled!!!

Or too little. Many schools won't give any aid to a family who needs more than a certain percent.

The Basis troll who keeps popping into these threads is very obvious. Go away
