Can you imagine if he had hit back? It would have been a full on brawl at the Oscars. Rock gets credit for keeping the show going.
I enjoyed the special. I think he is right about the mute R. Kelly people, Markle, corporate charity, and the slap. Will was frustrated. I thought he spent too much time on his kids though, but I get it.. Rock did what he needed to do with the special. There is no coming back though. No Madagascar 4 in the future. |
It really was orchestrated to inflict the most pain. On the one hand, it’s hilarious. On the other hand, it seems like Rock is kinda obsessed with Jada. I mean, who films in Baltimore? That was a “slap.” And bringing a posse of celebs with you underscores his insecurity. I bet he was traveling with heavy security. And I bet he left Baltimore quickly. |
Seems like a video by a jerk and about two other jerks…
I’d rather watch Hannah Gadsby or anyone else. |
Did he bring the celebs or did the celebs come to see him like everyone else? He doesn't do heavy security. Last night wasn't the only Bmore show. |
Wow, you really don't like Chris Rock lol. |
He brought the celebs in person and he lined up several dozen celebs (50?) who provided taped messages of support/accolades. It was weird. Some sort of flex. I guarantee you he has security in Baltimore. |
You went from I bet to I guarantee. Such certainty. What happens if you're wrong, internet tough guy? |
You're kidding, right? I can name tons of stuff filmed in Baltimore. Hell, even Will Smith has filmed in Bmore. It's not some obscure location that has never seen a Hollywood production. |
Sigh. I’m referring to Netflix comedy specials. I don’t believe any comedy specials have been filmed in Baltimore. Rock isn’t from Baltimore. Some comics film at their hometown club or whatever club they got their start in or frequently performed at. He picked Baltimore as a slap at Jada—the second biggest black star from the city behind Tupac. This was a huge event for the city. Local elected officials and candidates were there. PS - I know film and tv shows are filmed in Baltimore. I’m from there btw. My family roots in the city go back to 1900 (literally). |
Well, I suppose all the tweets and social posts about his after party at the tightly guarded hotel coupled with seeing him and the other celebs walking in with personal security confirmed my suspicions. ICYMI: celebs typically travel with personal security…especially in Bmore. Fun fact: when the film industry started using Baltimore more regularly, a cottage industry of personal security firms was launched. Do you think Rock flew into bwi on southwest and took a cab downtown? Lol |
Literally in awe of you insider scoops. Tell us more! |
It was funny for the most part. 7 out of 10?
I did not think the will smith end was that funny; but I totally agree with him ripping will smith and jada apart. It is his show and he controls the narrative on that stage; no issues from me on him tasking 5 minute or so to get revenge. I do not see any reconciliation is their future. |
I thought it was OK. IMO, the funniest/truest line I heard was: "If your boyfriend won't pay for your abortion, that's a sign that you really should get an abortion." |
