We saw his show last Fall, I hadn’t laughed that hard in years. |
This seems like a fine time to repost this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj0mtxXEGE8 |
Republicans lie, and democrats leave out key pieces of information that would lead to a more nuanced discussion.
He’s not wrong. Now he’s grappling with abortion and the part of him that’s pro life. |
Ooooh he’s going off on Will and Jada 🔥 |
Wow that was amazing! Loved the Megan MRkle but and of course Will Smith got slaughtered. |
Chris, you rocked!!!🤣 |
Nope. Getting slapped hasn’t made him less misogynistic or particularly funny. I’m not the audience he seems to crave.
|
I thought the first half was rather meh. It was kind of predictable and just … meh. I didn’t really laugh.
Second half when he started talking about Lola was better. Funnier. Final 10 where he talked about the slap — well, that was his own bit of selective outrage but it landed. Hard. Pun fully intended. |
The irony is that his bit about not fighting back when Will slapped him because he was taught not to fight in front of white people is that he waited to fight back by staying silent for a year until Netflix paid him to fight back using his comedy to take Smith and his wife down for a largely white Netflix audience. ^^^ That’s why the lead in to the special features Bono singing a silly song and upwards of a hundred comics and Hollywood celebs praising Chris: to show they have his back. This takedown was a year in the making and perfectly timed with awards season. I have always enjoyed Rock’s comedy even if it sometimes shifts from raw truth about big issues to raunchy bits that sound like what most black comics do. I liked the Meghan Markle bit. I liked the first 20 minutes of the set. But once he pivoted to his family and ended with the Smith set I felt like he is a deeply insecure man. The pussy set was really low brow and beneath him. I bet his insecurities stem from being short and realizing he will never be as comedically brilliant as Chappelle. Curious what the smith’s pr machine will do. Curious if people will criticize rock for his takedown. I honestly think he trotted out as many celebs as he could precisely to demonstrate a show of support in the hope that Hollywood won’t defend Smith following the Netflix takedown. Let’s see what happens. |
A female comedian I’ve never heard of before (and I follow comedy closely) tweeted her “unpopular opinion” that she thinks Smith should slap Rock again. I wonder if others will criticize him? |
Did she say why?? I thing by now everyone has chosen their side. #teamrock |
PP again. Seems like something you'd say as clickbait trying to generate views. |
I didn’t go down a rabbit hole, but given what I read as I skimmed her stand up and posts, I suspect she’s team Jada re: black women and their hair. |
Chris Rock is a misogynistic ahole, who once again is commenting on a relationship that has nothing to do with him. He has a history of comedic stalking and Jada is perpetually his victim of choice, hence the slap. I don’t condone violence, but for some reason he just can’t let her go. Perhaps she rejected him at some point when they crossed paths. Who knows, but his treatment of women is pitiful. He and DCUM continue to make this about Jada, when really it is about two men that couldn’t control their worse impulses and behaved poorly in public. Call it comedy if you want but repeatedly referring to a woman you attempted to humiliate at the Oscars a B during your Netflix special is not worthy of praise. I hope is ex wife got half of his fee. |
FTR, he was calling Will a B…which is essentially the most derogatory term a black person can hurl at a black man. Rock’s own marriage ended due to his porn addiction and cheating. His ex did get half, and he’s still bitter. |
