College Park mayor resigns

It is just horrifying to me that these men live among us, like wolves in sheeps clothing. 30 years ago if you had asked me, I would have said this is a very rare disorder. But after story after story like this comes out, it just doesn't seem that rare. It's not like lightening strikes. Clearly #notallmen -- but a much higher percentage of men than I'm comfortable with have really disturbing attractions. I feel bad for his wife, who likely had no idea.

Not wife, husband. Did they have any children?

It’s a good lede from the Post. Is there any better example of “virtue signaling” than this?

“College Park Mayor Patrick Wojahn, a long-serving public official and advocate for environmental and social justice issues in his Maryland city, was arrested Thursday morning and has been charged with 56 counts of possession and distribution of child pornography.”

Imagine the difference in how that reads if you flip the order a bit.

"Patrick Wojahn, won on Thursday was arrested and charged with 56 counts of posession and distribution of child pornography, was a long standing public official who advocated..."

And would the post or any publication lead with the non story if the arrested had championed conservative causes?

"Joe Schmoe- a champion of pro life and fiscally conservative issue in Maryland...

The washington post does not even mention his political party

Not that he’s gay. Other publications, while not explicitly saying he’s gay, note the name of his spouse. The Post doesn’t and maybe it’s because his spouse works in local journalism.

His poor spouse. Wojahn nuked his entire life from orbit. The fallout on family and friends is going to be awful. I hope the spouse has a good support network.

I don’t believe that his male spouse didn’t know.

It’s hard to say. There is certainly a possibility that his spouse is implicated and that he could be protecting him by waiving Miranda and confessing. But that’s pure speculation.

Interesting for sure.

No reported children. So at least there’s that.

WTF is wrong with these people?

I’m sorry that that is crazy. Why so complimentary to him? They could have been short and to the point. It’s pretty gross.

They released that original statement BEFORE they knew why he was resigning. He just told the City he was resigning effective immediately.

Why not? Patrick used his WORK email as his recovery email. An email account his spouse would not have access to.

This is a bit too much intricate knowledge that has not been publicly reported. How would you know this if it is only known to Wujahn and police?

Everyone was investigated. The police monitored the situation, searched the house (and presumably all devices), and arrested the culprit. Weird that you think the police aren't competent enough to do the job.

Politics is everything, especially in College Park. I used to live there. How would his husband not know?

The police arrested a suspect. The investigation has not been completed but is ongoing. More charges could follow.

Investigators are in the process of identifying the young boys who were getting raped in the images the ex College Park mayor had on their computer.

God help these evil men, all of them who abuse innocent children like this. There’s no such thing as rehabilitation for their evil obsession.

If your son had spent any time with this criminal, you might want to consider what may have happened to your child. The police need to hear from you, if there’s any possibility something may have happened.
