Call from Admissions Officer

Wow. So even now, the eve of decision reveals not all decisions have been made? Must be a busy day!!

Do all schools in the area announce decisions tomorrow?

We did a late application to a school last year. I got an email stating the admissions officer wanted to schedule a call. It turned out to be a call to say our child was not accepted. I was surprised because I would have thought we would just receive an email rejection.

Op - any updates?

- Child is a sibling but going to be rejected, AD is doing a courtesy call.
- Child will be admitted but only if redshirted.
- Child had a conditional acceptance that’s too hard to explain in the letter.
- AD needs more information on something in the application (but it’s late for that).
- AD wants to know if you will accept if admitted.
- School really really wants kid and wants you to know how much they want the kid.

How does that even work? Do they not send the contract?

Conversation is started and conditional acceptance is discussed. If parents wish to enroll child and condition is met then contract is ent.

So did OP talk to them yet? Why did she say oh well she’ll wait? Did the call happen or not?

OP here. It was not good news. It was a courtesy call due to my friends at the school. I almost wished it was an impersonal email. Good luck to everyone else!

Wow. Sorry. I was one of the posters that was sure it was good news.

wow, thanks for letting us know OP. I'm very sorry about this news

We had friends with pretty decent standing at the school (multiple kids, one parent legacy himself, members of parent committee) write a rec for us and we never heard anything until we got the waitlist (i.e. rejection) letter. it's unusual for the school to call. I'm not sure if this is nicer or not.

I’m sorry, OP. I kind of suspected this but was staying hopeful for you. I’m sure things will all work out okay for your child.
