Op again. We do have friends at the school who are involved and I think went to bat for us. So, in line with my nervous thinking, I tend to agree it's more of a soft rejection. |
THIS!!! Unless your kid has a sibling at the school you are applying to, this is positive. To PP, have you ever applied to private? Why in the world would they call for rejection? It could be possible that it is a question about whether it’s your child’s first choice. I know my DD’s school admitted too many kids last year (not GDS, which apparently had the same problem. I think post COVID turned previous admissions practices on their head. |
+1. If it was a waitlist or rejection they could just explain later. If it's your first choice let them know. Good luck and let us know how it goes. |
I was called in 2018 by an AO to see if their school was the top choice. It wasn’t so I sounded pretty noncommittal. Kids waitlisted from that school but got in elsewhere. |
They arent going to call you with a rejection bc of this (not early or otherwise). Even if your friends are donors or Board of Trustees. They would call the friends, not you. -independent private school parent k-8 and HS |
The day before decisions are posted? You don't think the choices have already been made? |
I'm curious which other schools were overenrolled going into this year |
Are you a potential large donor? Are you DC-famous? |
We got a call prior to decision day (several years ago) asking if they were our first choice because they were adding a section of the grade for which we were applying and they wanted to make sure they could fill it. Was totally unexpected for us.
Be ready to respond if they ask you if the school is your first choice. |
yes |
OMG!! This is absolutely a FABULOUS sign! |
