We both WFH on Fridays so someone will probably just yell decisions from across the house. We’ve agreed to not obsess over it in front of DD (she’s 4) so we’ll try to turn off the anxiety by 5 to go pick her up.

I feel bad for your kid that you’re both this stressed over this at 4.

Good for you if you are MAGA + don't care where or if their kids go to school. Others do care. You are on the wrong forum. Go over to the public school or home school threads.

NP who is also concerned about your level of stress on a 4 year old. And yes, I do care where my child goes to school. She attends public in the Whitman cluster so we’re doing fine, thanks!

Because it's public and they have to take her?

Okay. I am stressed, sure, but I think I’m more excited than stressed. We are applying for PreK so the stakes are fairly low (though I would love to not do this again next year), but it’s exciting to think about where our kid might go to school for the next 14 years. Anyway, I hope I have provided you some small benefit by giving you a reason to be snotty to a stranger on the internet.

DP. It's not "snotty" to wonder about two parents being "obsessed" and "stressed" and both "checking every five minutes" about a 4 year old's admission to private school. Sorry.

Sorry is a good way to describe yourself. And snotty.

For what it's worth, I think that's the best cluster in the country. Literally.

You have not been outside of your bubble in awhile. They are plenty of better places/schools.

This.

Nope. It is the best cluster in the country.

Obviously. Her back up is a great one and a public one. This takes away some of the stress.

And yet about half of the kids in my neighborhood (walking distance to Whitman) are in private. A big public is not a great fit for every kid. Some kids will thrive at Whitman while others will do better in a different environment. (And not all privates are the same. . . thus all of this worry around decision time.).

Signed,
Family with two kids doing well in HS: one at Whitman and one in private.

I’m hoping for Basis. Hope they let my kid in. Will pick Basis over STA, Sidwell, GDS in a heartbeat. So nervous…

Your kid will get in. Desperate school running radio ads. Everyone who applied will get in.

I was joking.

I have no chance of getting into Basis. The school is too good…🤐

It’s the people who comment on anything that is in Recent Topics, regardless of whether or not it pertains to anything in their life. Such a pain.

You are delusional. Everyone gets in. They have a high acceptance rate because there's plenty of room. As long as you don't mind paying for radio ads.
