Long Hair On Boys

What's with the obsession around here with "white trash?" Some of you are absolutely fixated on the term.

So unless it is cut SHORT, it has to be about a foot long before it will stop standing straight up and looking like a charicature. So buzz cut it is. Guess he is a little "white trash" boy, what with his dad being the super-successful type, youngest at his large company to ever be in the senior management position he's now in, living in a nice house in a nice part of town, mom is a school teacher. Trashy!

I agree with your point. But PP must have tapped into a real raw nerve. You must be a mere generation removed from true "white trash."[/quote]

I must be, assuming that Mayflower passengers were the original "white trash", as my ancestry traces to those nice folks...but by more than mere generation.

I suspect it's like certain conservatives who scream about homosexuals and family values, and then get caught having gay affairs...they doth protest too much.

You think that's bad? I'm AA - what do you think they call me?

That's not quite my point, though. We spend an extraordinary amount of time on these boards discussing who's trash, what's trashy, and the countless millions of tiny indicators of trashiness. (Onesies! Boys with long hair! Boys with short hair! T-shirts with glitter! Two-piece bathing suits!) It's petty and depressing as hell.

I saw of picture of Cindy Crawford's son-he has amazing long hair-looks very cool in my book. If my son's hair looked like that, I would grow it long. Unfortunately, his hair just grows UP, a la Lyle Lovett. We have the buzz cut-it looks cute and it fits his hair type!

You know that Zac Efron or the Vampire Guy or their replacement-of-the-day is going to shave his head some time soon, and that will be the end of long hair for the foreseeable future.

These things go in cycles. There is no right or wrong, only popular and unpopular.

NP here. I know. That's why I cringe every time I hear the term. Folks who use terms like "white trash" seem just as likely to use other crude terms.

13:00! I salute you!

Thank you for shedding some common sense on this utterly ridiculous topic.

I think hair is beautiful. It should be shown off on either male or female.

Well, I "am" white trash -- grew up in a trailer park outside of Laurel, near the racetrack. Do you care if my son's hair is long or short? Will it put an end to this stupid debate?

I love the long hair on Will and Jada's son. He is adorable.

I too think younger boys look cute with buzz or very short haircuts. It makes them younger and more child like. I don't like long hair on boys - actually i don't like loose long hair on girls either.

I don't care one way or the other (I would never keep DS's hair long now because I don't want to maintain it), but I HATE HATE HATE LOATHE WANT TO KILL that awful Justin Bieber hair I see on some teens these days. And how they have to shake their head to get it out of their eyes. Ugh, awful. Glad my kids are too young to try for that one.

TOTALLY AGREE about that awful Justin Bieber hair. You know what it reminds me of? That Seinfeld episode where they all got low-flow water saver shower heads installed in their bathrooms and ended up having horrible hair because they couldn't rinse all the shampoo out of their hair.
