Long Hair On Boys

What do you think?

Depends on how old the boy is. Generally, if the boy clearly looks like a boy--I love it!

pp again: I only love it if it's a stylish long-ISH haircut. Not just an unkempt or wt look, or the like.

It's his head, but he has to maintain it. E.g., brush twice daily, shampoo regularly, and not complain about the heat.

This is what I tell my long-hair.

For some folks long hair is culturally significant.

And for others, it's just really cool.

Yeah, that too.

I let DS' hair grow until it's close to his eyes, and then we have to get it cut. He has such wonderful hair and looks so cute with it long. When we cut it short, he looks at least a year older (he's 4.5).

Observant Jews let their DS' hair grow until 3.

Hate it.

Personally, I hate it, but it's just a matter of taste. I don't judge people whose sons have long hair, for example.

I hate it too! I have 3 sons all with buzz cuts - sooo cute!

Thank you. DS's 8 +10. On some boys I've noticed it looks good if its kept clean and the edges are trimmed. On others (kids up to maybe 12) it just looks like
a rat's nest and that the parents are just indulgently letting the kid refuse grooming. I get that with kids with severe sensory issues you've got to let some of that stuff just go--but with therapy, you CAN peacefully deal with it.

Also can I just say that I have noticed such a bias that elementary school teachers have against little boys in the first place --so that I find myself trying not to send my kid to them with wild long hair out of fear that they'll be pre-judged as unruly and wild. I really see the body negative body language from the teachers towards the long haired boys. It isn't fair but it there is a bad perception issue.

I don't care for buzz cuts or long hair.

PP here. Also I think it is adorable on boys up to @3 then it just looks like wow, the Mom is way over involved in this boys grooming because no way is a 6or 7 or 8 year old brushing their hair every day. It just looks like the Mom is trying so hard to make the son look like this rebel. IMO, anyway.

My son is 2.5 and his hair is on the longish side but by no means girlish length. Just not militant short hair, more of a frat boy shag. We don't like the super short hair but that is just a personal preference. We always joke he comes out of the hair salon with more hair than all the other little boys are going in with. To each his own.

That could be an entire new thread.
