English is not his native language.

Really? I thought he mentioned before that it was.

I feel like I know so much about him. I even know what his oldest kid is majoring in college.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought he’s said before that it’s not. If it is his native language, yikes.

I do one level below C level work. So I hide in the shadows. My main expertise is starting things. Very good at it. I am very very bad at day to day work. Also bad at reporting to micro managing people.

I like start ups anything looks good, I like big big companies where I hid.

I often report to board some jobs. Make then happy no one else cares.

I also do get laid off a lot. I always go for the money whether qualified or not. I am now at $600,000 in lifetime severance checks.

Oh yeah? Like Big 4 big??[/quote

Big 4 nine years!! I sold a lot of stuff so no one care about my product. I was one of few who did cold calling or RFPs to steal clients other big four. I love to go bac but covid killed the days of me taking you to a steak dinner and showing up in my suit with a team and wowing you in person. Today just cold hard RFPs you send in. Accounting or Procurement selects

Were you working two jobs while you were there?

OP have you considered becoming a social media influencer showing off your two jobs (or formerly two jobs)? Your writing skills are atrocious but this may translate over to TikTok in an endearing or catchy way.

This must be the same poster always posting about doing two jobs badly.

OP my boss wanted me to throw and catch the ball.

In reality my J2 created this monster.

I wanted to start mid month. But company forced me to start on 1st of month due to HR reason which was a Thursday.

I can’t got without medical. And worried job offer might get pulled.

So I said I start Thursday the 1st. Fill out benefits stuff and give two weeks notice old job the next Monday.

I only find out at orientation one month wait for medical. I was pissed as if actually quit old job be in Cobra for a month.

So I say screw it will wait till First week of October. I then find out medical sucks as big annual annual deductibles. Since October that sucked. So told kids and wife do any medical or medical stuff before I resign. Medical was a lot cheaper but trying to hit deductible that late in year sucked.

Now I find out on probation first 90 days they can fire on spot no severance and insurance ends that day. Unlike other companies they fire a lot in the 90 days.

So now say screw it holding on three months.

Well at this point work slows between thanksgiving and New Years old job so I say what the heck resign after new years.

But then old company looked like I might get laid off in mid Jan. But policy is no severance if already resigned. I did not get let go.

At this point I said March 15 next vesting of prior stock at old company I decided Friday March 17 is last day. I decided I stick with new job. This guy OMG if I quit old job be really really screwed.

He is not American so maybe he does not realize I lose medical. I don’t get “garden leave” I literally be interviewing as an unemployed person from a short stint job in a time of low unemployment.

It is screwed up as I literally was doing a full days work every day on this job. And I hired 2/3rds of dept to get it fully staffed. Weird firm no pips or even conversations about performance. I think he would have canned me either way.

I will hunker down J1 for next 2-3 weeks then hit the job hunting trail. This time maybe full time in office. Too tempting remote to take second job and too easy to get canned remote. Maybe nice fat cat middle mgt DC job I just have meetings and off sites.

Since you started working two jobs, has your family expanded its lifestyle? What I’m really trying to ask is are you now dependent on two salaries and losing one paycheck will cause financial problems?

OP should quit J1 and become a stand up comedian.

I was banking it. Only thing I did was up
401k contribution, do a 529 deposit and book flights for spring break.

Problem is my old salary too low. Which is why I was job hunting. I have two interviews waiting on as cleared HR already last week. They sent it to hiring manager. I would have ditched both jobs something better.

The two checks were nice but in reality the two jobs combined was my 2019 salary. All in I was making $400. One in person demanding job. Now I need two BS remote jobs equal one salary. Mind you I was way over laid in 2019 which is why in Covid first person out the door.

This is my first “off boarding” where the guy who hired me did it. Usually I come in high priced. Down the road new CEO or new CFO or bought out they see high priced me sitting in office drinking my coffee and perhaps realize even at my best I was Phil
knight or Joe tore. Meaning they had great players. Phil Knight had Michael Jordan and Joe Torre had Derrick Jetter. I am good at hiring so if I hire right I can take credit. And I am not a cheat my second in command I often funnel then a bigger bonus than me and let him WFH or leave early and I cover and paid for MBA. Like Phil Jackson I need my Michael Jordan’s. But in remote it is like Phil Jackson at home watching game so why so I need him.

To be honest I fully staffed this dept on J2 I mean I got three new rock star hires in my short time. All making a lot less than me. I think this guy figured I got it on autopilot why not can me and take credit. A scummy thing. Because if and when I land my next big role. A big if but I am stealing all my hires if that happens. He made me dumpster dive laid off tech prior and people in middle of no where to meet his budget. I could easily swipe then and give them all 40k raises.

People bust my balls but I was C level one big job. I have big 4, multiple certifications. this guy also screwed me as I was going for a board seat in DC last week and backed out. Was worried the two jobs would blow it up.

Now I am in “monk mode” got a fire 🔥 I can put out at my start up with my new free time to show CEO I am still in the mix. Maybe they will pull off IPO and my 300k of paper pre-ipo stock will pop!! Calling CEO today to see if I can visit home office next week. Got to represent and seven months in basement hiding from J1.

This update is pure gold, thank you OP. Regarding the above bolded, is this why you are so obsessed with RTO on this board, because face time and schmooze is where you really shine?

100 percent!! My BS is pure gold. I actually once in Big 4 sold Aerospace consulting work. I booked this guy who had 30 years experience in aero space who missed plane. I just did a one hour meeting off top of my head. Next thing I know they hire me for fishing, lumber, shipping, nuclear waste removal. They flew me to 20 cities. It was kinda like the Pantless guy on TV show Ghosts. But it don’t work remote.

It is like a stand up comedic on zoom. I need the feedback. I used to bill at $2,000 a day 20 years ago and I was booked 100 percent one year. But I be worth $50 bucks an hour today a guy in India remotely could do my work.

Well finished my days with J1 time to go to Starbucks

Have you considered a job in sales? If you are as good at schmoozing and BSing as you say, you would be a perfect fit. I know several people who sound like you and they clear high-6, even 7 figures in sales. And then you don’t need to worry about your technical skills or your writing or whatever.

Might work! But I also can just keep landing jobs and cashing out. Last two jobs I got a sign on Bonus and Severance. One time a six figure sign on and a six figure severance in the same month!

Where should I apply. Know of any openings?
