Proof the Beyoncé “hype” is 100% fake — clothing line flopped

So, I'd say it takes more than fame. Beyonce doesn't have a signature style. She's always dressed to entertain. At least in my impression. That makes it hard to sell an athletic line when she wears ball gowns and bathing suits mainly.

Simpson, at least 10 to 20 years ago, was a wildly successful reality TV show and a genuinely endearing narrative, virginity/religious hook, and flyover state appeal. What is Beyonce's hook? Fake spammed tweets? It's not real. She's boring and dumb and married to Jay-Z, a dumb ex drug dealer high school dropout who clearly serial cheats on her.

There is no world in which Simpson in 2005 was more famous than Beyoncé in any of the last 15 years.

You clearly hate Beyoncé, but she’s a superstar on a level Simpson never was. But, J Simpson is filthy rich and laughing all the way to the bank.

Lay off Beyonce. We get it; you don't like her. So what? Plenty of people do.

Why boomers? I’m sure the people who like this person, and the people who dislike her, represent a cross section of the population.

Definitely DCUM boomers on here hating Beyoncé so much.

I find it funny that the young progressive crowd enthusiastically support Beyonce, a performer who chooses to supplement her already lucrative income by playing private shows for moguls who support the death penalty for LBGTQ individuals.

Yours,
A middle-aged white suburban woman

Your analysis is bizarre. OP presented factual information about Bey's clothing like. It is objectively doing poorly. She contrasts it with the clothing revenues of a much more controversial performer of the same race, whose clothing line was objectively doing well (at least it used to). And your takeaway is... racism? They are both black. Did a pair of yeezys call you a racial slur or something? Get off it. People can talk about business and about black women, same as anyone else. Your insistence that everyone should pretend "Queen Bey" is a mega star just because she is black is ridiculous. Black women dont need "middle aged white suburban moms" to pretend on the internet that they buy Beyonce's clothing.

Looks like something fun she does but I never got the impression it was anything more than social media hype. If she were really serious about it she has the resources to make it into something.

No way you're a Beyhive superfan. This writeup isn't overwhelmingly, over the top defensive and positive.

Beyonce is plated our and overrated. Truth.

The is fake demand to generate artificial buzz by restricting the number of tickets available. You fell for the manufactured hype. So much about her is manufactured.

And yet Jay Z is a billionaire, sorry black success scares you

What a joke. I don't like Beyonce's music because it's not my preferred genre, and I don't think she's a mover and shaker the way Taylor Swift is. That now makes me poor and racist?

And the Real Housewives meme of the yelling blond woman and the white cat is everywhere, but that doesn't mean the yelling blond woman is having a big career. She's just known for something.

(I suspect that there are successful clothing (or other product) lines that I'm not familiar with; it doesn't mean their creators aren't successful.)

The WSJ has a particular political bent, and it will go out of its way to jab at or ignore businesses depending on who runs them

I am relieved to find others think Beyoncé is fake & all-marketing. In general these big pop stars hold no interest to me - Beyoncé, Madonna, JLo - there is no musical talent. It’s all undeserved adulation.

The only song I can recall of hers is “Put a Ring On it.” I don’t think she has the market saturation she thinks she does.

Just say you're a troll and be done with it. My opinion of her has absolutely nothing to do with the color of her skin. You're the one making it racial.
