No comparison re: price.

MD is 11

NorthWestern is 12

But NorthEastern isn't listed, so falls below the top 25

Are you trying to mock NorthWestern?
NorthWestern CS is not bad at all.

For those who know, this seems silly.

Don't have any specific comments about the relative merits of the two CS programs, other than to say that my understanding has always been that Maryland's is very good. As far as Northeastern is concerned, it is very possible to graduate in 4 years with two coops and with minimal summer courses, particularly if you come in with significant AP/IB credits (and NU seems to be pretty generous in that regard). So you can end up graduating in 4 years and only paying 3 semesters of tuition (no tuition when you are on coop). Some kids do 5 years and 3 coops (or even only 2), but that just means that you are paying for 3.5 or 4 years worth of tuition.

Summer sessions are not typically when kids are in school, so yes, it adds a year or your kid will give up their summers. No matter how you slice it, the coop model adds time.

Unless you don't plan to do internships in Summers.

No need to if you do coops during the school year.

The point is that 2 coops however it's integrated into its 4 year curriculum and 2 Summer internships at other schools are basically the same.

Here's a sample 4 year plan for CS.

https://catalog.northeastern.edu/undergraduate/computer-information-science/computer-science/bscs/#planofstudytext

If you have some AP credits, you can have a Summer of two session off.

Again, I have a family member in this program. 5 years is the standard time to completion if one does coops. No reason to lie. He likes it btw. Some families may care about the extra year, others would like the coops.

You are ignorant even when your family member is in the program.
They give you options - 4 year with 2 coops or 5 year with 3 coops.
I provided schedule for 4 year one.
Don't make fool out of yourself.

For in state student, choose Maryland. If you have to pay OOS and can afford the difference then Northeastern. Visit both and see which one feels and looks more like where dc wants to be.

Why would you choose NE just because you can afford it? Different rankings show UMD higher, while other rankings show NE higher. But, ITA.. visit both to see which one feels right for you.

My DC was looking at a CS program up in one of the Boston area colleges, and during the cold snap this past weekend, I told him how cold it was in Boston, and DC said they might reconsider Boston. So, if the cold weather bothers your DC, maybe think about that, too. When it's that bitterly cold no one goes outside. It can get cold in DC area, too, but not as cold and not as long.

I’m not the one making a fool out of myself. Most kids do not do summer sessions and take the 5 years. Sorry if that is upsetting to you,

The NE boosters are out of control on this board. So glad my own kid did not apply there.

Not pretending anything, already indicated numerous times I have a family member who is currently a cs major at NE. Work on your reading skills, please.

OP, I got accepted to both UMDCP and Northeastern (albeit a few decades ago) for fully paid both schools (Ph.D. in engineering). I chose UMDCP because it was a stronger program. I understand UMD CS is even stronger.

You are very wrong.
Again, two options are 2 coops 4 year and 3 coops 5 year.
More people now choose the 4 year option.

5 year option is perfectly great too to have more time to be prepared while paying no extra tuition.

It doesn't matter how you feel about the school, but please refrain from providing wrong information and what you don't know about to people.
