Would you have a baby with no arms / no legs?

I would absolutely terminate (with or without spouse’s blessing).

Wow. So if one of your children has a terrible accident and needs a lot of therapy and care.....you'll leave them in a nursing home so you can focus all of your time and attention on the healthy one?

I think I'd have to have a long talk with the doctors about what the medical and mechanical options would be for the baby to grow up and interact with the world and whether the brain/internal organs were healthy.

You have never been pro choice. EVER.

I am not the above poster, but your argument is ridiculous. They are not the same.

However, people who DO live with severe disabilities might tell you otherwise.

So you would kill a baby ("fetus") since you don't think their life would be worth living?
Anonymous
Of course, I would terminate.

No question what so ever.

And if there were already siblings even more stronger of a decision.

Coming to the State as an adult, I was surprised at the number of people who sacrifice their lives to care for children with significant disabilities. I can only conclude that wealth is a determinant factor, as is social acceptance of disabilities, which certainly does not exist to the same extent elsewhere. However I'd be very concerned about what happens to these children when their parents are not longer able to care for them.

I've watched some friends deal with medically complicated children with no clear diagnosis or treatment plan. It's an endless whack a mole of issues and emergencies. The financial, emotional and mental strain is intense.

Typically they will go in group homes of 6 residents when the parents pass away or can no longer care for them.

This is common in Maryland.

All abortion is "eugenics" to force birth fundamentalist fanatics. They have no ability to discern nuances based on specific circumstances.

Don’t be obtuse. Selectively aborting a fetus because you think it doesn’t have arms or legs and this it’s life isn’t worth living. It absolutely is eugenics. Like the annoying saying goes: it is what it is. Own it.

Eugenics was about stripping women of their autonomy by sterilizing them without consent. Eugenics was the system against women (and men) who were deemed feebleminded; people didn't want them to reproduce because they were considered unfit for society. There is nothing remotely similar in this, even if you personally don't approve of a women's right to choose.

NP. That’s part of what eugenics was about… but look into the child euthanasia program by the Nazis… they literally called certain babies and children “life unworthy of life” and systematically murdered them. This was all part of the goal to “improve” the human race. If you think eugenics is separate from that, I don’t know what to tell you. Not all abortions are eugenics, of course, because many (most?) embryos/fetuses terminated are healthy.

Terminate without question

Where don't they have this choice?

What about the baby, and what god gave THEM? How would you feel if that baby grew into a child, a teen, an adult and consistently told you they wish you'd aborted them and you were selfish for putting your wants above their ability to enjoy life? You'd just shrug and be smug that you're a good christian?
