Making a shortlist of potential spouses I would approve for my child - just for fun!

What?! You are crazy pants. Op is talking about a baby.

The only people I know who do this are uneducated young moms with daughters.

Yeah we figured that you didn’t live here pretty quickly.

Knew it. Do you live on a compound with lots of firearms? I bet you're proud of how submissive you are to your dh.

I do this OP. Wait until your child gets a little older and you see who they gravitate towards in school. My child has a bestie of the opposite sex and the mother and I joke about being in-laws and spending holidays together. My BFF has a child of the opposite sex and we always joke that we want to spend holidays together so our kids should marry when they are older. I think it's funny and I am not looking for my kid to be in an arranged marriage. You are not alone in this. As for the people on DCUM, we are not all insufferable a-ho!es. For the people who piled on about church goers, I pray for your salvation

Yes. Everyone outside of DC lives on armed compounds. Only you do not, living in DC.

Lol NP thinking about it DC is one of those few places I would prefer to live in a secure compound! Back to OP, when my oldest was in preschool and had a best girl friend I used to daydream about them being together in future. But sadly all those daydreams quickly fall by the wayside as yours and your friends kids grow up!

OP here- thanks for the nice comments. I’m sure these daydreams will be proved wrong as my daughter grows up and discovers who she is! I think she will be a little social butterfly so it will be interesting to see who her friends are at school etc.

To those who have made assumptions that I am an uneducated younger mum living on a compound with firearms and being proud of how submissive I am to my husband- I’m actually 35 with a law degree. I live in a house in an urban area and the country I live in has made owning firearms illegal. My husband generally does what I tell him to lol.

I agree with this. Although I would never admit out loud that I do it, I have heard other parens talking about it openly, which is what I find tasteless and a little creepy. It's a natural thing to ponder in private. And lets be honest, nobody wants this kid to turn out queer.
