taxes and funding for MCPS need to be drastically cut in MoCo

Cut central office, Curriculum consultants, equity consultants. Have more teachers and more buildings. It will do more for all kids if there are under 20 kids per class than anything else they spend $ on.

THIS.

So much waste in MCPS. Quit the useless equity initiatives and hire more teachers and security.

Seven hours later all parents were alerted to what happened. Why did all parents need to be contacted at all and why is it a problem for not-the-girls' parents that they were not contacted sooner?

What was the problem? They were found passed out on the floor of a bathroom. Obviously there was concern and rumors floating around about fentanyl. Early, direct and honest communication is all that would have been needed. Instead all they did was send an email telling people not to spread rumors.

Superintendent needs to resign.

Parents need to parent. There are many, many wonderful parents who hold their children accountable. The ones who don't make school miserable for peers and staff alike.

Except bathrooms in schools are now locked because too many students were using them as drug dens. Absolutely sickening. Of course there are consequences for using drugs on school property. MCPS are a joke. Nothing but hangout clubs where zero learning goes on.

All of the bathrooms in all of the schools are locked? The things I learn on DCUM.

No, not all the bathrooms. But various schools have locked up certain bathrooms due to drug use.

Sadly, the BOE seems to rubber stamp MCPS and not hold the system accountable.

Dr. McKnight was a shoe-in since was a deputy superintendent and then basically guaranteed the main gig when she served as acting superintendent.

The unfortunate thing about school board elections is that most people don't pay attention, so some bad candidates get elected. Until things get so bad that it's time to clean house. Now is that time.

Also, it's time make our BOE full-time.

The unfortunate thing about MoCo school board elections is everyone votes for the most liberal Democrats.

Agreed. I think it is quite a jump to blame MCPS as a whole for the actions of two girls. These girls are the problem and they need to be handled appropriately by the school and their parents.

Who is blaming MCPS for the girls drinking? People are blaming MCPS for everything that happened after that.

Agree that this is a problem. We keep voting for the same people so we get the same nonsense.

Kids ODed all the time in my school in the 80s. But they didn’t tell all the parents! We only knew because we’d see the ambulances.

Hahahaha! I don't know about MCPS, but back in my day and in my school district, it was the idle rich, white, privileged kids that did the most drugs! The rest of us were too busy having to work and too terrified of a beat down from our parents to do that! No parental hand-wringing followed up by a fancy upstate rehab vay-cay for us when we went astray!

Taxes and finding aren’t going to be cut, but do you feel better after your little whine rant?

+1. The electives hallway bathroom in my suburban public school in the 90s was an open air drug market, but oh noooo, kids these days!!! Clutch your pearls harder!!!
