Not everyone who isn’t a citizen is undocumented. Based on this, undocumented would basically be limited to a cellphone bill, DCPS enrollment documents or WIC, but how would they know you were Joe Smith without an ID? HAHAHAHA... yes, yes they can. It's done all of the time. In a nut shell it is identity theft even though they are not doing it to directly profit/steal from the real person's ID. From what I remember the SSN was used mostly to be able to work, rent etc. TBH I don't know if they were able to get driver's lisences with the stolen/fake SSN. Source: my friends (3/4 of the illegal/undocumented people) at my church.

First of all, there are two groups of non-citizens who live in DC: people with legal authorization to be in the US, and people without legal authorization to be in the US.

Second of all, I don't think you know much about living in the US without legal authorization to be in the US. I don't know much either, and even I know about Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers.

Many indian tribes have similar sorts of licenses and vehicle registration but they cannot drive off reservation.

It is. Ask any non-citizen who has attempted to get a drivers license in DC and they will tell you what a pain in the ass it is. The DC DMV is very strict. Only those non-citizens with the time and energy to go through that process are going to end up being allowed to vote in DC.

So it seems like a bit of a waste of time and expenditure of political capital to get on a soapbox about how important it is to allow all 100 people who have one of these licenses the ability to vote in DC. Not exactly the most pressing issue at the moment.

DC has been fighting for statehood for, what, a good 50 years? And how much progress has been made? None. Not even a floor vote when Democrats held all three branches of government. Now that the Republicans hold the House again, we’re supposed to believe that DC was on the cusp of being made a state were it not for this measure? That is your argument? Really?

Owning a house is not enough. You need to be resident in DC and have the utility bills or such to prove it.
