There are a pile next to the Corvette. Plus a separate classified document in an adjacent room…..so in two different locations. Where else?

OK, but that doesn't excuse the underlying crime of having the documents

There is no such thing as the bolded.

"Whoever, being an officer, employee, contractor, or consultant of the United States, and, by virtue of his office, employment, position, or contract, becomes possessed of documents or materials containing classified information of the United States, knowingly removes such documents or materials without authority and with the intent to retain such documents or materials at an unauthorized location shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than five years, or both."

But I am appalled to read that a second set of highly classified documents were located in Biden’s garage in his Delaware home. In my opinion, Trump should be charged and prosecuted for his criminal behavior with classified documents. Likewise, Biden should be investigated to get to the bottom of his mishandling of classified documents. In the meantime, in my opinion, the honorable thing for Biden to do is to step aside and let Kamala Harris be acting POTUS. Any ordinary citizen would have been in handcuffs by now

If you really believe this than you're a fool. "Any ordinary citizen" would not be in handcuffs now (e.g. A, Trump is not and he willfully obstructed the attempts to get those documents back).

Biden and team are cooperating, as he should.

Biden had no power to declassify when he took the documents. Trump did

BUt he didn't.

You are not absolved from a crime just because you turn yourself in. Whats next, letting murders self report.

It’s not illegal to accidentally have classified documents. It’s illegal to take them and refuse to give them back.

The simpletons on this thread need to read this three times. It is THE distinguishing factor here.

It's illegal to retain them. I guess he just had no idea what was in his own home.

Do you know what all the documents in your home are? I sure don't for mine.

It is funny all of the legal experts posting here. The DOJ however is concerned enough to call for another special investigator. This will blow some minds: It is possible that both Trump and Biden illegally handled classified information or that both did not. We shall see.

Are you just beyond stupid? Trump had multiple opportunities to return HUNDREDS of classified documents and refused. Then he received a subpoena and still refused!

OTOH, Biden's lawyers contacted appropriate agencies immediately and returned them. Can you understand the difference?

I often think there should be a minimum IQ to post on DCUM. particularly in the Politics forum.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appoints special counsel in investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents, saying it’s in the “public interest” to appoint Robert Hur as special counsel.

Almost certainly background & briefing documents for phone calls or meetings that got up mixed with non-classified documents and stored in a folder or box. Not proper protocol but not “knowingly removing with intent to retain” either.
