They let a child watch the procedure? Weird.

After he came home.

And you're positive it was from .... the circumcision? Not just because he was a newborn and newborns cry a lot? Seems like a stretch to me.

You think it’s a stretch that a baby would cry from pain after getting their skin cut off?

I’m glad that I did circ my boys.

We did not. I left it up to my husband who is, and thinks it's brutal and unnecessary.

Kid has only asked "why am I not and dad is" and told us he appreciated our choice and asked why his grandparents thought otherwise.

But really, you won't think about it.

Husband is Jewish. He chose circ for son. No issues for him or any male relative on DH’s side.

Maybe I am more sensitive and have more empathy than you do.

Boy I’m getting a lot of smoke for a very innocuous comment.

did it come up at Thanksgiving when you were going around the table saying what each person was Thankful for?

For anyone who is contemplating how to move forward with an expected male infant, I highly recommend the documentary American Circumcision.

Are you trying to say it is unlikely that this newborn baby was crying from pain? So you’re saying that cutting off a piece of your skin (forget that it’s a particularly sensitive area with insane amounts of nerve endings, let’s just say any skin) would not be painful?

It’s just as painful for babies to get the tip of their genitals chopped off as it is for anyone. They just can’t communicate how painful it is and they don’t remember it later.

I’m not even anti-circumcision really but I hate that we pretend it is not an intensely painful ordeal for a human being to go through.

You clearly don't get what it is. It is not cutting off the tip of their genital. It is cutting off extra skin that isn't necessary.

There are a lot of our parts that are "unnecessary" now and we can live without but you don't see us taking out babies appendix or tonsils at birth. How weird.
