Unless someone has done a pretty good job of forging that document, this should be sufficient evidence that the story is correct.

It’s a sad commentary on the state of our mainstream press that the only place you can find any coverage of this is on rightwing websites. That it happened is not in question. It absolutely happened. But the media ignores it.

Do you think CNN or other traditional media in this country would’ve ignored this story had this been an appointee of the prior administration? Of course not.

This is journalistic malpractice.

+1
Had this been an appointee of the previous administration, this thread would be hundreds of pages long by now. Unreal.

No. There’s a whole thread with hundreds of crimes like this and much much worse by appointees of the previous administration and hundreds of other Republicans and it is totally ignored.

But isn't it lovely that you have a whole forum of people who simply write off a source

Post sources that don’t read like a gossip mag made for teens if you want to be taken seriously.

Or you could admit you were wrong.

Wrong about what? There’s a reason I read court docs. I only went to check the OP’s source to see what she was whining about.

I used to detest the "rugged individuals" of the old Republican Party, but I now regret that they have been replaced by self-pitying whiners who never stop dwelling on their supposed victimization. The sad commentary is that the mainstream media has been decimated with journalists being laid off left and right. This case took place in Minneapolis. How many national news outlets do you think have journalists covering stolen suitcase crimes in Minneapolis? Do any of you believe that any news organization has been sitting on this story for a month? Cases like this get discovered by cub reporters digging through police and court records or, more likely in this case, an insider pointing a friendly reporter to it. CNN is not staking out the Hennepin County courthouse.

Brinton has been on leave for a month. How did that go unnoticed?

Who did you expect to notice? Again do you think CNN has reporters tracking the movements of Deputy Assistant Secretaries? Do you have any idea how many of them there are?

Brinton is very active on social media and well known among the many.

Interesting how Jeff is all over this thread and any other thread having to do with trans women and cross-dressing men. Your commitment to trans ideology is quite…noteworthy, Jeff.

Long ago I made friends with some of the very few minorities in my middle and high schools. I was called all sorts of names by those who didn't approve. Later, I made friends with gay men and lesbians. I was called more names. If you want to insinuate that I am transgender, be my guest. It's like reliving my youth.

On Nov. 18, Kim Petry, the acting deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel who has stood in for Brinton, wrote in an email to DOE colleagues that she had been asked to stay on as head of the spent fuel office “for the foreseeable future” by Kathryn Huff, assistant secretary for nuclear energy.

“I should have another update for all of you in a month or so,” Petry wrote in the email. That timetable corresponds roughly with Brinton’s scheduled hearing in the Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis.

I want to commend the Biden administration, the NYT, and the WaPo for suppressing this story through the mid terms

I guess a crime committed outside of work by a deputy assistant secretary of spent fuel could impact the elections for a different branch of government. Who knew?

And there is a similar one covering Democrats and their crimes - also ignored. What's your point?

This thread has absolutely zero to do with Brinton’s gender identity or lifestyle. Nothing. Zip.

Bringing any of that up is an irrelevant distraction, and I wish people would not do this.

The crap article includes all kinds of irrelevant details, at least the first few paragraphs did. I didn’t read past that.

DP. Brinton is a Biden SENIOR DOE OFFICIAL, not some random person who stole a bag in the Minneapolis airport. This should have been covered by the national media, as any story about a senior government official would be. We hear stories all the time about far lesser local gov't. employees and their crimes. It's very odd that you're trying hard to downplay this.

As for the bolded - seriously? Classic case of projection.

He is a deputy assistant secretary. If I threw a stone out my window I would probably hit two of them. But, walk me through how the national press would know about this story in order to report on it. Fox News is a national news service. Why didn't they report it? Which national news service is staking out the Hennepin County courthouse?

Here is a publication that covers nuclear waste closely:

https://www.exchangemonitor.com/brinton-on-leave-of-absence-from-doe-petry-asked-to-stay-on-as-acting-nuclear-waste-chief/

They found out Brinton was on a leave of absence, but had no idea why. This was five days ago. News services simply didn't know about the summons. So, again, walk me through how you envision national news services finding out about this a month ago and suppressing it?

Sorry to read this - just a sad story and a person who needs help. Doesn’t belong in government .
